Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? is preparing for its fourth season. On May 22nd, a live-streamed special included a new video which revealed new information about the upcoming season. Included in the video were the band performing the theme song, some returning artists to the project, and the premier date.
A new key visual was also unveiled. Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? is based on a light novel series by Fujino Oumori and Suzuhito Yasuda. It first premiered as an anime in 2015. The story follows the young adventurer Bell Cranel on his explorations of a huge tower, and his interactions with other adventurers and their patron gods. It’s a light-hearted and fun series that has gained fans across the world in the last seven years.
Season 4 of Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?will start from volume 12 of the light novel series, and will likely cover around 3 to 5 volumes as previous seasons have. It will premier this summer, with the first episode releasing on July 23rd at 1:05am (GMT+9). While the official episode number has not been announced yet, it’s probably going to be 12 or 13 episodes long again, along with some OVAs.
Many artists and staff are returning from previous seasons of the anime. The newly announced ones are art director Jeong Ryeon Kim, color key artist Tomomi Andō, compositing director of photography Shingo Fukuyo, and editor Kentarou Tsubone. An exciting addition to the team is Fujino Oumori, one of the original writers of the light novel. He will be overseeing the scripts along with Hideki Shirane. Other returning staff include director Hideki Shirane and character designer Shigeki Kimoto.
The opening and ending theme songs were also revealed. sajou no hana will perform the opening song, called “Tentou,” and Saori Hayama will perform the ending song, “Guide.” sajou no hana should be familiar to fans of the series as they also did the ending song for season three. Saori Hayama is both a vocalist and a voice actor, known for her role as Shinobu Kocho in Demon Slayer amongst many others - and she voices Ryuu Lyon in Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, too.
Finally, the livestream video also revealed a new key visual for Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Season 4. The image has all the biggest characters in the show right now, including Bell Cranel as the focus in the front. It also features this arc’s name: Shinshou Meikyuu-hen, or Labyrinth in English.
Fans of the Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? series can rest assured that season 4 shouldn’t be delayed. Season 3 was delayed from summer 2020 to autumn 2020 because of complications due to COVID-19 in Japan. As the world slowly returns to normal, anime is getting back to a reliable schedule as well. With the announcement of a date and time this close to the release, it’s very unlikely to be delayed this time.
Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Season 4 will premiere on July 23, 2022.
