Day two of D23 keeps on giving for Marvel fans. The Marvel Studios panel featured a discussion of Ironheart, which included some new footage of the tv show and information about who Anthony Ramos will be playing.

Ironheart was first announced back in December of 2020 alongside Armor Wars. There's been a steady stream of information related to the series over the last two years, being one of the less-mysterious projects Disney has under its belt. The series centers on Riri Williams, a more recent addition to the Marvel Comics roster, a teen genius who follows in Tony Stark's footsteps to become an armored warrior under the moniker of Ironheart.

According to The Wrap, the panel included some of the first footage of the series. It includes a clip of Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) being admonished by one of her professors, who tells her that she's not the only genius to ever come out of MIT. Williams counters that she wants to create something "iconic". Williams ends up making her Ironheart armor by the end of the footage, which is finally battle-ready.

Also featured in the trailer is Anthony Ramos. The In the Heights star was previously cast in a mystery role, but the panel revealed that he will be playing none other than Parker Robbins, alias "The Hood". Initially appearing to be an ally to Williams, it soon turns out that he may have more nefarious intentions, and may have some command of mystical knowledge, as opposed to Williams' scientific expertise. Ramos, however, characterized Robbins as "a complex guy" when he appeared on stage. Specifically, he said, "[Parker] wants to take in other misfits and show the world that you looked at us as outcasts, but we’re going to end up on top. Parker is…a deep dive into a dark place. But on the inside Parker believes that he’s doing good and Parker has a love for his crew and a love for his people. I’m trying to dance around the plot because I can’t give y’all the deets! He’s a complex guy and Parker kicks ass.”

The Ironheart presentation was fairly straightforward; it offered tantalizing clues to the series, but little in the way of some of the deeper aspects of the character. Given that Dominique Thorne will debut as Riri Williams in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, her character will have plenty of time to endear herself to audiences when that film debuts on November 11. Right now, the series is clearly well into production, but it's still too early to see more than a small teaser of what's to come. Still, the details that have been revealed are more than enough to satisfy fans until the series debuts.

Ironheart will debut on Disney+ in late 2023.
