Apple has unveiled its iPhone 15 series, and the iPhone 15 Pro is capable of running modern AAA titles like Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil Village, Death Stranding, and Assassin's Creed Mirage natively. Apple also announced hardware-based ray tracing for the Pro models that utilize the latest A17 Pro chip. This marks a huge leap in gaming performance on a smartphone not only for Apple but for the smartphone industry.

The Apple Wonderlust Event recently concluded, and the company had some interesting announcements. As expected, the iPhone 15 series was released which includes the iPhone 15, 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Plus, and 15 Pro Max. While the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max come with the new A17 Pro chip and 120Hz refresh rate displays, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have the A16 chip and retain the 60Hz refresh rate for another generation. The new iPhone models will, for the first time ever, come with USB Type-C ports instead of the typical proprietary Lightning port. The company also announced the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 smartwatch models.

The Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max is Apple's latest iPhone, and it happens to be the best gaming and content creation device in the market right now. Powered by Apple's A16 bionic SoC that comes with a 5-core GPU and a gorgeous Retina OLED display that has an above average PPI of 460 while enabling you to create content, work, or game at 120Hz.

One thing that stood out the most from the event was the advancements in smartphone gaming that Apple was able to make with its new A17 Pro chip. It supports hardware-based ray tracing which allows the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max to run AAA titles like Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil Village, Death Stranding, and Assassin's Creed Mirage natively. This is the first time such games will run on a smartphone natively. Previously, only cloud gaming enabled this experience.

Apple has not shared exact release dates for these games, but Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4, and Death Stranding will arrive later this year. Assassin's Creed Mirage, on the other hand, will come in the first half of 2024 as it is scheduled to release for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and other platforms on October 5.

Talking about the A17 Pro chip, the company also shared that several developers are taking advantage of the new hardware capabilities. It allows for visual upgrades in games like The Division Resurgence which will launch in early 2024, HoYoverse – Honkai: Star Rail, and Genshin Impact.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available for pre-orders from Friday, September 15, with official sales starting on September 22. They will come in four finishes including black titanium, white titanium, blue titanium, and natural titanium. The iPhone 15 Pro starts at $999 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at $1,199.
