Over the past few years, Insomniac Games has become the go-to studio for everything Marvel. It began this journey in 2018 with the critically acclaimed Marvel's Spider-Man, and two years later it released the next chapter with Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Now the studio is hard at work on two different Marvel games: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Marvel's Wolverine. While other studios have struggled to make successful Marvel games, Insomniac Games keeps knocking it out of the park, so it should try its hand at Ms. Marvel as well.

Ms. Marvel recently came into the limelight through a Disney Plus show and her appearance in Marvel's Avengers. Comic book audiences have known about Kamala Khan since she was introduced in 2013, and she instantly connected with many as a Marvel superfan herself, one with the same teenage drama viewers have come to expect from the likes of Peter Parker. While Marvel's Avengers was able to capture the essence of the character, it was less-than stellar and Kamala suffered for it. Insomniac Games has proven that it can make quality Marvel games, and Ms. Marvel should be its next attempt.

Insomniac Games Has Extensive Marvel Experience

Before 2018, no one knew what to expect from an Insomniac Games-led Spider-Man title. Many players were skeptical since Spider-Man did not have a great track record with games, and had only recently seen a renewed film success thanks to the MCU. When Marvel's Spider-Man hit store shelves, Marvel fans were blown away with just how good the game was, ranked among the best superhero games around.

At the PS5 reveal event, Insomniac Games unveiled the next chapter in the Marvel's Spider-Man saga, with Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales serving as a follow-up that oversaw Miles Morales' struggles to become his own Spider-Man. It was released alongside a remastered version of the original title, and was far from the last Marvel title that Insomniac Games would create.

In September 2021, Insomniac Games surprised many by announcing it was hard at work on Marvel's Spider-Man 2, but also a separate game around Wolverine titled Marvel's Wolverine. Not much is known about these upcoming games, except for the fact that Venom will make his big debut in the next Spider-Man title and Marvel's Wolverine is intended to be in the same universe. The studio seems committed to making more Marvel games, and fans could not be happier.

Kamala Khan is Similar to Peter Parker

Insomniac Games has shown that it can make great Marvel titles, and its formula may fit perfectly with Kamala Khan's Ms. Marvel. She is a teenage superhero living in the streets of Jersey City who adores other superheroes, with her favorite being Captain Marvel. In Marvel's Avengers and the comics, Kamala gets her powers from Terrigen mist, while the Disney Plus show changed it to be from a powerful bracelet. Her powers let her stretch and change shape, much like Mr. Fantastic.

Once Kamala gets her powers, the usual struggles of figuring out how to use them while juggling regular life events ensue. Her story is similar to Peter Parker's, but different enough that it would lend itself well to a full-scale video game. Insomniac has shown that it can tell heart-wrenching stories around adolescent heroes like Miles Morales, and that would be needed for a Kamala Khan-focused game.

A Ms. Marvel-Focused Game is a Must

Kamala Khan was the focal point of Marvel's Avengers' story, but the game was not received well. While most found the single-player story to be engaging, its live-service model was not. Insomniac Games has shown that it can not only tell a great superhero story, but also it can do so without sacrificing gameplay. If Insomniac were to craft a Kamala Khan-focused game in this same universe, it could do the character justice.

A game following Kamala Khan could throw players into an explorable Jersey City, and have them protect it from whatever seeks to do harm. Her stretching and polymorph abilities could lead to an interesting movement system that feels different from Marvel's Spider-Man. The combat would also be wild as her arms stretch and morph to fight back any enemies she faces. The story could be filled with Marvel references that build out the Insomniac Marvel Universe, as Kamala Khan herself is a Marvel superfan.

There are many other reasons a Ms. Marvel game would make sense for the Insomniac universe. For starters, Jersey City is right across from New York City. Kamala Khan would have no doubt heard about the events of the Spider-Man games, which make it clear that there is a much larger Marvel universe out there. On top of that, Kamala has teamed up with both Miles Morales and Wolverine in the past. Since Insomniac Games has been playing with both characters, it could also add Kamala to the mix.

Kamala Khan's Ms. Marvel is all the rage right now, and Insomniac may be the perfect studio to make a game about her. Not only has it shown that it can make exciting Marvel games, but it can also make heart-wrenching stories. An Insomniac Games-led Ms. Marvel title may just be the next big superhero title.
