Hong Kong-based Infinix has revealed that its GT 20 Pro is the official gaming smartphone of the PUBG MOBILE Super League (PMSL). The latest edition of the PUBG MOBILE eSports competition has started in mid-May in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, with its Central and South Asia (CSA) edition being scheduled to follow soon.

The PMSL is an eSports tournament series organized by PUBG MOBILE publisher Krafton. The inaugural edition of the competition was announced in February 2023 and took place over the following two months, followed by another season in August of that year. Indonesian eSports organization Alter Ego Ares triumphed in both of these Southeast Asia-only events, winning the maximum $250,000 prize on each occasion.

PUBG MOBILE Super League Secures Infinix Sponsorship

This year, the PMSL is expanding to the CSA and EMEA regions, as well as the Americas. Its EMEA and CSA editions are being sponsored by Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Infinix, whose GT 20 Pro has now been revealed as the official gaming smartphone of the PUBG MOBILE eSports competition. The EMEA edition of the PMSL kicked off on May 15 and will conclude on June 9. Meanwhile, its CSA counterpart is scheduled to run from May 22 to June 16.

Infinix GT 20 Pro Supports PUBG MOBILE's New 120fps Mode

Infinix is using this sponsorship as an opportunity to advertise the fact that the "eSports-level" GT 20 Pro is one of the first devices in the world to support running PUBG MOBILE at 120 frames per second. Although 120Hz displays have long been a staple of gaming smartphones, PUBG Studios' hit mobile game was initially capped at 60fps following its 2018 debut, with that frame rate limit subsequently being raised to 90fps two years later. The much-requested 120fps mode has been added as part of PUBG MOBILE update 3.2, which rolled out on May 15, coinciding with the start of the PMSL EMEA. Owners of the Infinix GT 20 Pro and other devices capable of running the shooter at 120fps can enable the new feature by navigating to the "Graphics and Audio" tab of the Settings menu, picking the "Ultra Extreme" option under "Frame Rate," and maxing out the "FPS" slider.

PUBG MOBILE Super League 2024 Dates

  • EMEA: May 15 to June 9
  • CSA: May 22 to June 16

The GT 20 Pro theoretically even supports gameplay beyond the 120fps range, with Infinix equipping its latest device with a 6.78-inch 144Hz FHD+ AMOLED Display. It is powered by the octa-core Mediatek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chip, which is paired with a dedicated graphics processor in the form of the Pixelworks X5 Turbo. The device comes in 8GB and 12GB RAM configurations, starting at the equivalent of $270.

Infinix says the GT 20 Pro is the only smartphone with a dedicated graphics chip in its price range. The device is hence advertised as a value-oriented offering capable of handling the requirements of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, PUBG MOBILE, and other contemporary mobile games in a cost-effective manner.
