Wild New PS5 Game Looks Like A Mash-Up of Stardew Valley, Genshin Impact, Super Mario, and Pokemon

PlayStation announces a new game that is slated to release soon on PS5, as fans in the community draw parallels with many leading franchises.

The Nikki series is part of a long line of mobile games starting back in 2012 which feature light gacha mechanics and a heavy focus on fashion. As for Infinity Nikki itself, the game is a bold step into the land of open-world adventure games. The Nikki series has never seen a console release, nor has it seen a release as ambitious as Infinity Nikki, so Tominaga's insight and design input are sure to be a noticeable presence within the game as it makes its first move onto the big screen.

Former Zelda Designer Working on Infinity Nikki

Kentaro Tominaga has a long history of working with Nintendo, starting with being Assistant Director for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker in 2002. Since then, he went on to work on other highly successful games in the Zelda series, such as Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild, with BotW being considered by many to be one of the greatest games Nintendo has ever made. In 2017, Tominaga left Nintendo to join Papergames, and has since been working on Infinity Nikki alongside development studio Infold Games.

From the gameplay trailer alone, Tomanaga's influence is clear. Infinity Nikki is a charming blend of Stardew Valley and Genshin Impact, with the latter being a game many compare to Breath of the Wild. Infinity Nikki's roots are clear with how gameplay flows — fitting Nikki with different costumes and outfits will grant her various powers that players will need to use to traverse the magical land of Miraland.

The open-world adventure genre is not an easy market to break into, with many huge names filling its roster, but Infinity Nikki is taking a bold yet confident step into it, and with Kentaro Tominaga amid the development team, it's easy to see how.
