Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! are some of the highest-selling games on the Nintendo Switch, with the potential for more Let's Go! games in the future. Fanmade artwork for Let's Go! remakes of Pokémon Gold and Silver has been circulating, showcasing some incredible designs for these hypothetical entries in the series.

Pokémon fans are no strangers to remakes; Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are slated for release next week. However, Gold and Silver haven't been remade since 2009, with the release of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. So far, only Pokémon's first generation games have been treated to multiple remakes, including the Let's Go! titles.

It's impossible to know if Nintendo will ever release Let's Go! remakes for Gold and Silver. However, some artwork recently gained traction on the Pokémon subreddit, which features box art, custom Joy-Cons, and even a unique Poké Ball Plus, the optional controller that was marketed alongside Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee. The box art even denotes the two as "Gold" and "Silver" versions, in keeping with their original iterations. The image itself, though, dates back to a 2018 Twitter post by @Cptn_Alex, and features artwork by Xous54 on DeviantArt.

Unique designs of both Ho-Oh and Lugia feature heavily on the box art, which have been superimposed onto Nintendo Switch cases. Also shown are two custom-made Joy-Cons, with silhouettes of Ho-Oh and Lugia in their respective gold and silver colorings. Finally, a custom model of the Poké Ball Plus sits front and center, made to be a perfect replica of the GS Ball. The GS Ball is something of an oddity in the Pokémon franchise; it was originally used in a Japan-only event for Pokémon Crystal, and was shelved after a brief appearance in the Pokémon anime. Still, its design is emblematic of Pokémon Gold and Silver, so its inclusion as a Poké Ball Plus model is a clever nod to a niche bit of Pokémon trivia.

Pokémon fans are known for creating remarkable custom content. There are dozens of fanmade Pokemon games, Pokémon designs, and collectible items to be found, and this piece is no exception. Even so, each piece is made with incredible attention to detail, looking almost like Nintendo-made products themselves.

With the release of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl on the horizon, interest in Pokémon remakes is high. Speculation as to the next remake in the series is a popular subject of debate, and incredible fan work such as @Cptn_Alex and Xous54's only serves to drive that speculation further. Still, it certainly makes for wishful thinking, and hopefully fans of Pokémon's second generation will eventually get to explore the Johto region once again.
