Despite having been released in 2017, there are still a great deal of key characters from across the Fire Emblem series who have yet to be included in the game. So today, we're going to examine ten of the most important characters from Fire Emblem's history who have yet to be included in Fire Emblem: Heroes.

As many of these characters are important due to their plot relevance, expect spoilers from various entries in the Fire Emblem series ahead!

10 Frey - Shadow Dragon And New Mystery Of The Emblem

While Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is a remake of the first installment in the series, it made numerous additions to the game it was based upon. In addition to extra chapters, Shadow Dragon included brand new characters such as the cavalier, Frey.

In the game's prologue, a unit is required to sacrifice themselves in order to help Marth escape. If this prologue is skipped, Frey is absent from a player's army, it is canonical that Frey is the character who sacrifices themselves in the game's prologue. Despite this, Frey returns in the game's sequel, New Mystery of the Emblem.

9 Sain and Kent - The Blazing Blade

Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade was the first Fire Emblem game released outside of Japan and was many fans' first exposure to the series. In the Blazing Blade, the first characters who are recruited by the player besides the protagonist are the cavalier's Sain and Kent.

A memorable duo of the Cain and Abel archetype, these characters have a special place in many players' hearts, as they were some of the very first Fire Emblem characters they experienced. Despite the popularity of both The Blazing Blade and the Cain and Abel archetype, neither Sain nor Kent have been included in Heroes.

8 Fernand - Shadows Of Valentia

Proportionally, Fire Emblem: Heroes includes significantly more protagonists and previously playable characters than it does villains from the series. While Heroes currently contains many of the antagonists of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia such as Berkut and Rudolph, it is notably lacking Fernand.

One of the most prominent recurring antagonists of Alms route of Shadows of Valentia, Fernand is a former member of the Deliverance who betrays the group, siding with the aforementioned Berkut.

7 Pelleas - Radiant Dawn

Despite being one of the most prominent figures throughout parts one and three of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Pelleas is currently absent from Heroes. The son of king Ashnard, the villain of Path of Radiance, Pelleas is believed to be the rightful king of Daein.

While a great deal of Part One of Radiant Dawn is centered on Daein's liberation and struggle to put Pelleas on the thrown, he is equally important in Part Three, signing the blood contract that causes the majority of that Part Three's conflict. Interestingly, Pelleas is also the only playable Dark Sage in all of Radiant Dawn.

6 Nemesis - Three Houses

While Fire Emblem: Three Houses is the most recent entry of the series, a more conservative approach has been taken in adding characters from the game to heroes, opting to slowly introduce them over time. Due to this approach, Nemesis has still yet to be included. Prominently featured in Three Houses opening cinematic, Nemesis was the former wielder of Byleth's Sword of the Creator.

Additionally, Nemesis is notably the final boss of the Verdant Wind route, further adding to his significance.

5 Ashera - Radiant Dawn

Like Pelleas, Ashera is a critical character of Radiant Dawn who is still nowhere to be seen in Heroes. One of the game's primary antagonists and the final boss, Ashera is the all powerful goddess of order. Ashera is easily one of the most powerful antagonists in the series, a literal god responsible for petrifying a large percentage of humanity.

Strangely enough, Ashera's counterpart Yune has already been added to Heroes despite serving a less significant role in the game in which they both originate.

4 Nergal, Limstella, and Sonia - The Blazing Blade

Similar to Radiant Dawn's lack of representation from its primary antagonist, The Blazing Blade suffers the same fate but to a worse extent. While Ashera is but one missing character, none of the most important villains of The Blazing Blade are currently playable in Heroes.

Though Heroes currently features numerous members of The Black Fang, a prominent assassin organization in The Blazing Blade, neither the main antagonist, Nergal, nor his two most powerful morphs, Limstella and Sonia, are playable.

3 Sephiran - Path Of Radiance And Radiant Dawn

The Prime Minister of Begnion and in Path Of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, Sephiran is one of the most crucial individuals on the continent of Tellius. While not playable in Path of Radiance, Sephiran can be recruited on a player's second playthrough of Radiant Dawn.

In addition to holding an immense amount of political power in Begnion, Sephiran is in reality Lehran, a thousand-year-old heron Laguz tasked with preserving order in stability in Tellius.

2 Marcus - The Binding Blade And The Blazing Blade

Marcus is one of the most iconic members of the "Jagen" archetype in the entire Fire Emblem series. Appearing as a archetypal "Jagen" in both The Binding Blade and The Blazing Blade, Marcus serves as an advisor and bodyguard to both Roy and Eliwood respectively.

Additionally, due to his above average base stats and phenomenal availability, Marcus is often regarded as one of the best units available in both games in which he appears, further adding to his popularity.

1 Gotoh - Shadow Dragon

The namesake character of the "Gotoh" archetype, Gotoh is an all-powerful sage who has appeared in Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light and all of its respective remakes. Like every member of his namesake archetype, Gotoh is a unit with exceptionally high stats who is only available in the final chapters of the games he appears in.

As an influential progenitor of an entire character archetype that has permeated through much of the franchise, it only feels fitting for Gotoh to be included in Fire Emblem: Heroes.
