Formerly known as Gods and Monsters, Immortals Fenyx Rising is one of the big projects Ubisoft is currently working on. While a few different aspects of the game have leaked, Ubisoft confirmed multiple details about the game at today's Ubisoft Forward event, which revealed information about a number of the company's games.

With a light-hearted tone and Greek Mythology-inspired story, Immortals is a bit different than anything else Ubisoft has done, despite its heavy influence from Assassin's Creed Odyssey in terms of combat and certain gameplay mechanics. And while Immortals release date previously leaked, fans now have official confirmation that the game will launch on December 3 this year, which isn't too long of a wait.

The December release date is a wise move, as it separates the game from some of the bigger launches of the year. Specifically, the game will have some breathing room from Cyberpunk 2077 and Ubisoft's own Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which release on November 19 and November 10, respectively, Valhalla's release date was moved up yesterday, after an initial release date of November 17, making it a launch day game for the Xbox Series X.

Ubisoft's name change may cause some confusion for Immortals, but it's as of yet unclear if that will be the case. Before Gods and Monsters was delayed and renamed to Immortals, relatively little was known about it, so it may not cause too many problems for the company. The change does represent a massive shift for the game, which was given extra development time, along with several other games, in the wake of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint's lackluster launch.

It's now a waiting game for those that are interested in Immortals. With Ubisoft launching two other major titles before Immortals hits shelves, the game's success could hinge on the reception of the other titles, Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Ubisoft does seem confident in its lineup this season, though, especially with the launch of next-gen hardware right around the corner.

The December 3 release date for Immortals will likely be here before fans realize, and with such a packed schedule for games over the next few weeks, gamers may need to manage their time to fit everything in. Of course, delays are always a possibility, especially with the ongoing pandemic, though Immortals has already gone through a sizeable delay, so it may not be as affected as other games have been by the current situation.

Immortals Fenyx Rising will launch December 3 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
