Where special powers are concerned, most of the prominent in media characters have the same set of skills. These usually include super strength, super speed, or super reflexes. As such, teleportation is one of the less used special powers, despite the fact that it can easily protect characters, save them hours of travel, help them save the world or destroy it, should they so choose.

There have been a handful of characters with teleportation skills in movies. However, some of them stand out from the rest thanks to their unique character traits, their importance for the plot, the actors' performances, or all of the three.

5 Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler is one of the X-Men. Even though he never became as prominent as Professor X, Magneto, Jean Grey, or Wolverine, his power is nothing to laugh at. Nightcrawler isn't as physically strong as some other characters, but his teleportation powers allow him to appear out of nowhere and attack his enemies before they can realize what's going on. As a result, Nightcrawler is easily one of the more dangerous X-Men. He has limitations to his powers, as he can usually teleport up to 3000 miles at most. However, he makes up for it with his fighting skills.

Nightcrawler was a popular character in the comics thanks to his action moment and his sense of humor. As a result, Nightcrawler has appeared in several live-action movies. First, he was portrayed by Alan Cumming in X2: X-Men United (2003). Kodi Smit-McPhee then played a younger Nightcrawler in two movies, X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) and Dark Phoenix (2019). Even though Nightcrawler isn't the only superhero comic book character with the power to teleport, he remains the most recognizable one.

4 Candyman

Not all iconic movie characters who can teleport from place to place are the good guys. Candyman is one of the few notable exceptions. Just like Nightcrawler, Candyman has appeared in multiple movies, most notably the 1992 horror Candyman and last year's reboot of the same name. For the most part, Candyman avoids people. However, those who are unfortunate or foolish enough to chant his name five times in front of a mirror soon realize he's a force to be reckoned with.

It's also usually the last thing they do, since Candyman doesn't tend to spare people. Since he can disappear in an instant and appear next to his victims, it's close to impossible to stop Candyman. That makes not only for an impressive horror story, but also an antagonist that even the series' fans wouldn't like to meet in real life.

3 The Cheshire Cat

Alice in Wonderland 2010 Cheshire cat

Not every character with teleportation abilities are human. The Cheshire Cat is one of the oldest prominent characters who can teleport, having first appeared in the 1865 novel by Lewis Carroll. Since then, the unusual cat has appeared in several movies. It played a part in the animated classic Disney movie Alice in Wonderland (1951) as well as in the live-action Tim Burton version of the tale (2010) where Stephen Fry voiced the cat. Regardless of which movie the cat appears in, it retains the same typical traits.

It has a sense of humor and can be mischievous, but it's also highly intelligent and cryptic, something that Alice finds a bit confusing. The cat stands out even among the unique residents of the Wonderland, and considering how special they are, it speaks volumes about its abilities. Not only can the Cheshire Cat teleport, but it can also render itself invisible, adding to its mysterious vibe.

2 Davy Jones

Davy Jones

While Candyman limits himself to dry land, another teleporting antagonist chooses a different approach and keeps strictly to the sea. Davy Jones can pass through solid objects and teleport onto any ship he wants. That's unfortunate for Captain Jack Sparrow, with whom Davy Jones has unfinished business in The Pirates of the Caribbean series.

Davy Jones' teleportation skill is enough to make up for the fact that he can only step on dry land every ten years. The heroes manage to get rid of him in the end when Will Turner pierces his heart, but not before Davy Jones sends the Kraken against them, which leads to Jack's temporary death. Davy Jones is an excellent example that angering someone so powerful isn't the best of ideas.

1 Slender Man

Slender Man is another character who doesn't use his teleportation abilities for good, but for killing people instead. He first appeared as a scary internet myth in 2009. So far, Slender Man has inspired two feature films, the 2013 horror The Slender Man and the 2018 horror Slender Man. Unfortunately for his reputation, neither of these movies did well with the critics or the audience.

A better version of Slender Man appeared in the TV series BlackBoxTV, which specializes on short horror stories. Slender Man's design as well as his power to appear wherever he wants (even though he seems to prefer woods) make him one of the scariest modern spooks, so it's only a matter of time before another movie adaptation returns to the character.
