The revival of the hit series iCarly will continue for at least one more season, as one programming executive at Paramount Plus has confirmed. The series will be entering its third season, with production starting later this year.

The "grown-up" version of the hit Nickelodeon series gained a large following after it was announced that Miranda Cosgrove would be returning as Carly Shay with a new version of iCarly. The series follows Shay's adult years and gives fans the chance to once again explore relatable life problems alongside the Internet star.

"iCarly’s loyal fan base grew up with Carly, Spencer, and Freddie, and have now fallen in love with Harper and Millicent, too," said Tanya Giles, chief programming officer for streaming at Paramount Plus, in a statement. “We’re thrilled to have Miranda, Jerry, Nathan, Laci and Jaidyn return for a third season, and we know Paramount Plus’ growing YA audience is as well." The reboot of the Nickelodeon series was first announced back in 2020, and it was confirmed that most of the original cast would be returning with the show. In the reboot, Carly is attempting to revive her hit web series, with some help from her brother Spencer (Jerry Trainor), best friend Freddie (Nathan Kress), and roommate Harper (Laci Mosley). Aside from the new character of Harper, Freddie's stepdaughter Millicent (Jaidyn Triplett) was also introduced, as well as Freddie's ex-wife Gwen (Carmela Zumbado).

The revival's second season concluded with a cliffhanger surrounding Carly and Freddie's relationship, which has been teased since the show's original run on Nickelodeon. One of the driving forces of Freddie's original character was his love for Carly, yet he ended up in an unexpected relationship with Sam (Jennette McCurdy). It appears as though their relationship issues will be resolved at the beginning of the third season, presumably picking up right where season two drops off.

The revival first received some confusion from former tween iCarly fans due to the fact that it was announced McCurdy would not be reprising her role as Sam Puckett, Carly's best friend and co-host. It was later revealed that McCurdy chose not to return due to previous conflicts and internal struggles on the original show as well as her spin-off, Sam & Cat, in which starred alongside Victorious' Ariana Grande.

iCarly is now streaming on Paramount Plus.
