Since Nintendo and Koei Tecmo released Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity in November, the game has been played by millions, and passed a huge sales milestone last month. With 2021 being the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series, fans are eagerly awaiting each new piece of Zelda content that gets released. For fans of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, even more game content will become available through an Expansion Pass.

The success of the original Hyrule Warriors inspired Nintendo to make another one, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was developed to be a canon prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While the actual story and ending of Age of Calamity leads to even more questions for players, the game at least gives a glimpse into previous events that led to Hyrule's demise. All the while, players are able to use over a dozen important characters from the original game, all in the typical flashy style of a Musou game.

In today's Nintendo Direct, viewers were treated to a trailer for the new Expansion Pass for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which highlighted several prominent characters in the game before giving some details about the pass. There will be two waves of additional content, with the first arriving in June 2021 and the second in November 2021. The Expansion Pass will run for $19.99, which is similar to the Expansion Pass for Breath of the Wild. If players purchase the pass, a new weapon and costume will be available for Link starting on May 28, 2021.

Wave 1 will see an expanded roster, new weapon types, new challenges in the Royal Ancient Lab, and new enemies. Wave 2 will add new character vignettes, new stages, new battle skills for certain characters, and even more additions to the roster. There are many possible characters that could be added to Age of Calamity, but no detailed information was provided during the Direct.

Players who have enjoyed Age of Calamity will be able to experience more game content throughout Zelda's 35th anniversary. Hopefully, this will be able to tide people over until more news for Breath of the Wild's sequel is revealed later this year. While not every player may want to get the Expansion Pass now, some will want to wait for more information to see what, and who, will actually be added.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is available now on Nintendo Switch.
