Ubisoft confirms that its new battle royale game, Hyper Scape, will be a PS5 and Xbox Series X launch title. The company has also confirmed Hyper Scape's current-generation console release window, saying that the game will be available on PS4 and Xbox One later this summer.

Speaking to SegmentNext in a new interview, Hyper Scape creative director Jean-Christophe Guyot confirmed that the game will be "playable on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 right at the launch of the new consoles." This will be the "same version" of the game that's available on Xbox One and PS4, said Guyot.

However, despite saying that the current-gen and next-gen versions of Hyper Scape will be the same, Guyot admitted that the development team is "looking into developing specific features and performances for next-gen." Nothing has been officially confirmed as to Hyper Scape's PS5 and Xbox Series X features, but Guyot did say that the team will "always prioritize responsiveness and framerate" because of the incredibly fast gameplay of the new multiplayer title.

Hyper-Scape-Revive

Hyper Scape moves so quickly that former professional shooter game player and popular streamer NadeShot has joked that he's scared of it. A higher frame rate is unlikely to help NadeShot or any other player get to grips with the game but it will ensure that technical issues aren't what keep PS5 and Xbox Series Hyper Scape players from taking the crown.

Having a high framerate on next-gen consoles could also help Hyper Scape compete against games like Fortnite, which is another PS5 and Xbox Series X launch title. Epic Games has confirmed that its popular multiplayer title will be getting a graphical upgrade for next-gen consoles in 2021, using the company's Unreal Engine 5. The battle royale games play very differently, but for those wanting to play them at a higher level, framerate could make a difference.

While full details about Hyper Scape on PS5 and Xbox Series haven't been confirmed by Guyot and the rest of the development team, those wanting to play the game on PS4 and Xbox One will be glad to hear that it will also be heading to next-gen. In a Hyper Scape trailer, Ubisoft has teased the game's bigger story and a narrative about the people who compete in Neo Arcadia. Making the game cross-gen means that any of those players who get invested in the Hyper Scape story will now be able to see it develop if they move from the current-gen to next-gen version.

Hyper Scape is targeting a 2020 launch for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
