Hunter X Hunter is a popular Shounen manga from author and illustrator Yoshihiro Togashi that debuted in 1997. The manga has been going on for some time, and for the last few years, the story has been stuck in the 'Succession Contest arc' as the author needed to take multiple hiatuses due to health-related complications.
During its latest arc, the characters saw themselves on an expedition heading towards the Dark Continent, financed by Nasubi Hui Guo Rou. The Dark Continent is located in the 'Outside World,' as the known continents are just a fraction of what exists there. While this might seem good, the Dark Continent is a very dangerous place that only a few have visited – notably Netero, Linne, and Zigg. Only the very best could survive in a hostile place like the Dark Continent.
7 Beyond
Beyond Netero is the son of Isaac Netero and an individual determined to reach the Dark Continent. He was assigned as the leader of the Dark Continent Expedition team as he'll go to any length to go there again. His father had forbidden him from attempting to go there until after his death, which finally happened during the Chimera ant arc, where he died fighting Meruem.
He has not been seen fighting yet but it can only be assumed that his strength is tremendous as he has already survived one expedition to the Dark Continent.
6 Ging Freecss
Ging Freecss is a former member of the Zodiacs and held the position of the 'Boar,' and a Double-Star Ruins Hunter. As the father Gon has been looking for the entire series, he was finally seen during the 13th Chairman Election arc. While he is dismissive of Gon, they do get a heart-warming moment atop the World Tree.
Ging is a powerful Hunter who has a lot of authority within the Hunter's Association, and was called one of the five best nen users in the world by Isaac Netero. With his peaking interest in the Dark Continent, this man could surely make it alive and well out of there.
5 Pariston Hill
Pariston Hill is a former member of the Zodiacs, the 'Rat', and he acted as the 13th Chairman, as well as the 12th Vice-Chairman to Isaac Netero. He acts as a minor antagonist in the 13th Chairman Election arc and is headed to the Dark Continent currently.
While Pariston Hill is more brains than brawn, he is still a Triple-Star Hunter and a very influential member of the Hunter Association. He claims to be weak, but took offense when Ging looked down on his abilities, so he might be hiding his true strength.
4 Chrollo Lucilfer
Chrollo Lucilfer is the head of the Spiders as their #0. He acted as the main antagonist in the Yorknew City arc and fought with Hisoka Morrow in a fight to the death as of recently. He and his Phantom Troupe find themselves heading to the Dark Continent as well after they set chase to Hisoka, who's hiding somewhere on the large boat.
Chrollo's Skill Hunter is a powerful nen ability that allows him to steal the nen skill of any nen user if certain conditions are met. This makes him a fierce personality that could survive the Dark Continent.
3 Hisoka Morrow
Hisoka Morrow is a Hunter that acted as the main antagonist of the Hunter Exams arc and appeared again either as a minor antagonist or as an ally throughout the series. After his fight with Chrollo where he died, he was resurrected even stronger and killed two members of the Phantom Troupe, and as such, they are now on the chase for him.
As Hisoka is a smart and powerful Hunter, along with being someone who has shown great skill and technique. He could make good use of his Bungee Gum and survive the ordeals of the Dark Continent.
2 Tserriednich Hui Guo Rou
Tserriednich Hui Guo Rou is the fourth prince of the Kakin Empire and the son of the King's first wife, Unma. He has close ties with a mafia family, the Heil-Ly Family, making him very influential in the underworld.
While he shows a well-mannered face, he is actually sociopathic and cruel in nature. He enjoys collecting human body parts. While he is very new to nen, he has been shown to be an insane level of prodigy. With his growing potential, by the time they arrive on the Dark Continent, he will become an extremely powerful nen user.
1 Kurapika Kurta
Kurapika Kurta is one of Hunter X Hunter's main characters and a powerful Conjurer and a Specialist nen user. After the Yorknew City arc, Kurapika got sidelined for other main characters in Gon and Killua. However, now, it seems Togashi has put the focus back on him in the Succession Contest arc. He is on a mission to take back his clan's Scarlet Eyes.
Kurapika is a powerful Hunter who has shown countless new abilities ever since he has gotten on the ship. However, it comes at the disadvantage of eating up his lifespan. He is a force to be reckoned with and it will be interesting to see how he fares once he arrives on the Dark Continent.
