Update 1.5.1 has arrived on consoles for Hunt: Showdown, and it brings much asked for changes to the matchmaking system. Update 1.5.1 was on test servers in Hunt: Showdown earlier this month on PC, but now it is live across all platforms, including the PS4 and Xbox One.

While Update 1.5 brought about massive gameplay changes that affect moment-to-moment action, and the update set the table for a brand new boss in Hunt: Showdown, Update 1.5.1 is more about addressing the game on the backend. Players now have far more control over the matchmaking of the game.

According to the patch notes, Update 1.5.1 basically allows players to select when they want to play based on skill level and when they want to simply jump into a match. Hunt: Showdown uses an ELO system that analyzes each player's skill. In the past, the game did not always properly match a "Hunter" up with another one with the same ELO score. But now, players will be able to select the "Skill Based" option from the lobby, which will indicate that they are happy to wait a few extra moments during the matchmaking as long as it will give them enemies and or teammates that are at or near their skill level(s).

Hunt: Showdown launched in early access back in 2018 on PC. About a year later, the game also released for Xbox Game Preview. When the game was ready to release for version 1.0, it received its PS4 version. While Crytek has attempted to release updates simultaneously since then, the PC version of Hunt: Showdown often receives the content a few weeks before its console counterpart, and the test servers only exit on PC. So it is exciting whenever the console version of the game catches up and receives important updates.

Hunt: Showdown is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
