Despite debuting on Steam almost two years ago and hitting Xbox Preview last May, Hunt Showdown has been mysteriously absent from the PlayStation 4. That will be changing sooner rather than later.

Announced by Crytek, Hunt: Showdown will be making its debut on the PlayStation 4 on February 18, where it will debut alongside a new update bringing a handful of major new features. For one, this update will allow PlayStation and Xbox users to play the title together through cross-play, while some new items will also be added alongside a number of major fixes.

Naturally, this will make a world of difference, especially as the main concept of the game is mostly focused around cooperative play. For those who haven’t experienced Hunt: Showdown before, the basic concept sees a team of players navigate a large map in search of a terrifying monster to slay, a prize to capture, and an evacuation point to travel to. The catch is that other teams will also be searching for the same priz. It soon becomes an experience that combines both strong team play and tactical PVP, so having a friend on board regardless of what console they own will no doubt be a big relief to dedicated players.

The Hunt: Showdown update will seemingly also feature some other gameplay additions, such as new matchmaking options for teams of three and an advanced tutorial mode which will be perfect for PlayStation 4 players that are yet to experience the game. Seeing as there’s a number of deep mechanics to learn, it will no doubt be a big addition to the experience that will be helpful to many.

Hunt: Showdown has been picking up a lot of traction over the last few years, especially since it made its debut on Xbox Preview last May. The game finally made its way out of early access last August and was heavily praised by players, which is especially impressive seen as the title had many technical failures at launch. Now the game’s made its way to consoles and is thriving away from Early Access, it’s clear the sky’s the limit for Hunt: Showdown and its community.

Hunt: Showdown is available now on PC and Xbox One, with a PlayStation 4 release on February 18.
