Hunt: Showdown continues to evolve and see content, features, and game improvements added to the title. There are some huge changes coming to Hunt: Showdown in 2021, including a new map, an apparent crow boss, and much more. But those will likely be a bit further down the road. First, Crytek is hinting at a brand new weapon.
Hunt: Showdown is a very unique online multiplayer experience. The Louisiana bayou and late 1800s horror setting is spooky enough, but the monstrous PVE mix with PVP battles creates an atmosphere of extremely tense moments. Crytek is continually supporting the game, with a mix of free updates and paid DLC, with the Ronin and The Trickshooter DLC being the most recent additions to Hunt: Showdown. That seems to be just the start of the 2021 content, as now a new shotgun is on the way.
The official Hunt Showdown Twitter page tweeted out a bit of a cryptic message regarding the next gun for the monster-hunting first-person shooter. It reads "Some said the cat was a cougar, driven to starvation. Others said a tiger, escaped from a circus, taking revenge for its years of torment." What exactly that means is yet to be determined, although some think that a new cat-like monster could end up prowling the bayou. But the tweet goes on the mention that Hunt: Showdown fans will find out more about the M1887 soon.
The tweet also comes along with an image that reads "New Weapon Coming Soon," followed by the text "Winfield 1887 Shotgun." Hunt: Showdown players will be familiar with Winfield style weapons. Although there have been no shotguns under that name yet, Winfields use a lever-action and also take advantage of the Levering Trait, which was added in update 1.3 of Hunt: Showdown. The Winfield guns in Hunt: Showdown are loosely based on Winchesters in "real life," and the Winchester 1887 Shotgun is a real-world lever-action shotgun. So this new weapon could certainly be a shotgun that uses lever-action functionality and one that utilizes the Levering Trait to some degree.
