With first Tuesday of September comes a newly announced bundle of games from Humble Bundle's subscription service Humble Choice. For $11.99, subscribers can claim eight different titles for their Steam libraries that range in size and quality, but leave something for everyone. Five percent of every purchase will also go to the Covenant House, which helps provide housing for youth facing homelessness.
The games included in the September 2022 Humble Choice bundle are some of the biggest that the service has seen in the last couple of months. Strategy fans can sink hours into Crusader Kings 3, sandbox lovers can cause havoc in Just Cause 4, and puzzle game players will be able to build wild automated factories in Shapez. There are so many unique titles on offer this month that one of them is bound to attract subscribers.
Crown Trick
Crown Trick is a classic roguelike RPG with a colorful aesthetic where players enter a procedurally generated labyrinth filled with enemies to kill and loot to collect. They will have to engage in turn-based combat that allows for strategically planning out the destruction of their enemies. The foes they destroy will teach them new abilities, and they are able to use the terrain to cause massive damage.
Crusader Kings 3
Paradox Interactive has made a name for itself with impressive grand strategy games. Crusader Kings 3 is the latest title in a long line of games that players have spent hours in, putting players in control of a noble house during the Middle Ages and tasking them with leading their dynasty to greatness. How they choose to accomplish this is up to them, and it can prove challenging to learn, but once a player masters the basics they will undoubtedly be engrossed in a world of political intrigue and backstabbing.
Descenders
Strategy games are not for everyone; some people just want to engage in some fast-paced gameplay. Descenders puts players on a bike and has them cruise around as they try to become a legend in the downhill biking community. They must choose a team and try to build their reputation with runs having them speed down hills, go off different jumps, and do various tricks throughout procedurally generated worlds. Even the subtlest of movements can cause bikers to crash and burn, which makes Descenders a pretty wild time.
Forgive Me Father
Forgive Me Father puts players into a world inspired by retro horror comic books and Lovecraftian stories. Players must shoot their way through this unique-looking FPS game as they try to uncover dark secrets, progressing through a hand-drawn world and facing all sorts of enemies that are pure nightmare fuel. While it may not be for everyone, FPS fans could feel right at home.
Industria
Industria is another FPS-like game built differently from Forgive Me Father, taking place during the fall of the Berlin Wall where not everything is as it should be. Someone has disappeared, and the government is trying to cover up a research project, so it is up to the player to discover the truth. They must embark on a journey through a secret research facility in East Berlin, defending themselves with an assortment of weapons as enemies lurk behind every corner. Those wanting an interesting story to unearth may want to give this one a try.
Just Cause 4: Complete Edition
Just Cause 4: Complete Edition is the latest title in Avalanche Studios' destruction sandbox series. Players are once again put in the shoes of agent Rico Rodriguez, who is tasked with causing as much mayhem as they can in a huge open world. This time, the game takes place in the lands of Solis, filled with brand-new extreme weather effects like giant tornadoes. Players will shoot their way through this world and cause as many explosions as they can to bring down the region's oppressive regime. The complete edition includes all DLC released for the game, giving players hours of destructive mayhem to indulge in.
Shapez and Shapez Puzzle DLC
Shapez is not like any of the other games included in this month's bundle. The game is simply a relaxing puzzle game that has players build factories that produce geometric shapes. As players progress through the levels, the shapes that they have to make will become more complex and require further planning. The bundle also includes its "Puzzle" DLC, which limits the map size and has players compete against each other to see who can solve the hardest puzzles.
The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos
The final game in the September Humble Choice bundle is The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos, a tactical RPG that gives players control of a band of inexperienced heroes. These heroes represent seven classic RPG characters, and will grow as players move through the funny story. They will engage in turn-based battles while exploring various locales, and face off against a roster of over 100 different enemies. The game is a delight to play, and should incite a few chuckles.
Anyone who wants to snag this bundle has until October 3 to head over to the Humble Bundle website and subscribe. On October 4, a brand-new batch of games will be released, and the current bundle will no longer be available.
