Conan Chop Chop

conan-chop-chop-1

Conan Chop Chop takes the Conan the Barbarian IP and turns it into a wild stick figure world. Players take control of a unique cast of heroes and embark on all sorts of adventures to fight powerful bosses, explore a procedurally generated landscape, move through numerous dungeons, and slash swarms of enemies. Up to four players can experience this roguelite together, and there is currently a free demo on Steam for anyone who wants to check it out before committing to Humble Choice.

Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal on Steam Deck

Doom Eternal is the biggest headlining game in the January Humble Choice bundle, and it is well worth the exposure. Players take control of the Slayer and must do all they can to stop the armies of Hell from overtaking Earth. They will use an assortment of weapons as they shoot their way through a great single-player campaign, and they can also take the fun online in a new 2-versus-1 battle mode.

Encased: A Sci-Fi Post-Apocalyptic RPG

Encased: A Sci-Fi Post-Apocalyptic RPGfeels a lot like a classic Fallout game, and it seems like a great way to fill the void during the long wait for Fallout 5. The game brings players to a dystopian world where every choice they make will shape its future. They can join one of five wings of the CRONUS Corporation and be sent into a large open world to survive by any means necessary. On their journey, players will encounter all sorts of unique companions and collect an assortment of wild weapons that will help them in combat. There is a lot of content to chew through here, and RPG fans will definitely want to check it out.

Grow: Song of the Evertree

Grow: Song of the Evertree

Unlike the aforementioned three titles, Grow: Song of the Evertree is a very peaceful and calming title. Players take control of the last of the Everheart Alchemists who take care of the Evertree; a powerful tree that houses many different worlds on its branches. They must venture across the vibrant world to uncover secrets and interact with all its residents as they ensure the Evertree's survival. They will also discover how to grow entire worlds through Alchemy, and are able to build the town of their dreams. It feels like an Animal Crossing title with more of a story and puzzles mixed in.

Hokko Life

character and houses in Hokko Life

While Grow: Song of the Evertree only felt like Animal Crossing, Hokko Life may be one of the closest thing that PC players can get to the popular Nintendo series. Hokko Life brings players to the town of Hokko and tasks them with helping the citizens reinvigorate their lives. They will do this by designing an assortment of objects, building a variety of structures, fishing off the coast, and befriending all the residents of the town. It feels like the perfect title for Animal Crossing: New Horizon fans to sink their teeth into, and they may get lost in its large swathe of content.

OlliOlli World Rad Edition

A player doing an ollie over a ramp in OlliOlli World

OlliOlli World is all about skateboarding across unique platforming levels. Players will skate through deserts, across skyscrapers, and down large mountains as they try to become the best skateboarder around. They will flip through the colorful world of Radlandia, and meet an assortment of unique characters who are all trying to become great. Players can also compete with their friends to see who can get the best time on each course, and they can compete against the world at large through Leagues. The Rad Edition includes all its story DLC so that the skateboarding fun never has to end.

The Serpent Rogue

The Serpent Rogue - Two Creatures

The Serpent Rogue is described as a botanical action-adventure game, where players control a mysterious alchemist who wanders a dark, medieval fantasy world on a mission to protect the realm from the Serpent Rogue. They must craft potions and experiment with numerous ingredients as they explore every corner of the realm to expand their knowledge before the coming disaster. Every action can have a large impact on the future, and players will have to stay on their toes if they want any chance at stopping this great evil.

Tribes of Midgard

tribes of midgard

Tribes of Midgard is the other headlining title of January, and it seems like a great pick for game nights. The game brings players to a world under siege by the mythical creatures of Norse Mythology, and it is up to the player's tribe to stop Ragnarok. They must become the ultimate Viking warriors to beat back these powerful beings and safeguard Midgard's future. While they can do this alone, Tribes of Midgard truly shines when players fight alongside their friends. Up to 10 players can team up in online PvE co-op, and the more Vikings there are, the more fun the game can be. The developer even recommends bringing a tribe of four or more to the fight against Ragnarok, and it is well worth putting in that effort.

Humble Choice for January 2023 is available until February 6.
