Not only do Humble Choice subscribers get a monthly bundle of games, but they also gain access to a library of games through the Humble Games Collection, such as Moonscars. New games are added to the library every month, and this month is no different as subscribers will be able to check out Moonscars the day it launches. The game is releasing on September 27, and Humble Choice members will not have to spend a dime to check it out.

Anyone who wants to get their hands on Moonscars and a monthly curated bundle can head over to the Humble Choice website to sign up (or click HERE). Moonscars is hardly the only benefit to signing up for a Humble Choice membership, of course, but the new action-adventure title from Black Mermaid holds an appeal that fans of Dark Souls may want to keep an eye on. Even among Humble Choice's many benefits, Moonscars seems significant.

Moonscars is described as a challenging Metroidvania by its developer, Black Mermaid. Players take control of a clayborne warrior named Grey Irma who seeks the truth of this world. She wishes to track down the Sculptor and discover the meaning of her existence. The world will not give up its secrets so easily, and players must be prepared to overcome great challenges. They will be faced with a challenge that games like Dark Souls have popularized, and they must be ready to die a lot.

Players will keep dying in Moonscars as they fight back against relentless darkness seeking to destroy them. Every death will teach the player a lesson, and they will learn new abilities as they progress. The combat requires a level of skill as players must combine slashes, parries, and powerful Witchery to devastate their enemies. Each challenge that the player is able to conquer will teach them new things about this dark world, and hopefully they will be able to discover the truth that Grey Irma desperately seeks.

Moonscars promises to be a real test worthy of other difficult Soulslike games, and the story is supposed to be filled with twists and turns. It is a dark fantasy tale about the meaning of existence, and a world that is seeped in betrayal and bloodshed. Players will bear witness to dark memories that have shaped this world and the lives of the clayborne warriors. The world itself is represented through a painterly aesthetic; everything in it is marred with desperation and despair, which comes through in the art's gloomy colors and details.

This title will be developer Black Mermaid's first big release, and hopefully it can meet expectations. Although published by Humble Games, it will also be available day one for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Anyone who is interested in a challenge or Soulslike games should definitely keep a watchful eye on it, and there is not too long a wait to see if it is worth the playthrough

Moonscars releases on September 27 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
