Humankind is an upcoming historical strategy game developed by Amplitude Studios. The game is set to launch in just a few months, but more details are continuing to be revealed as the title moves closer to the release date. As Amplitude Studios is a developer that likes to focus on modding tools and the community within its games, it recently released a dev blog to its fans about its plans on that topic for Humankind.

Amplitude Studios has a lot planned for when Humankind launches in April. Players will be able to rewrite history and build entire civilizations. The dynamic modding tools, however, will not quite be ready at launch. But Amplitude Studios seems very excited to implement them post-launch, as the team has apparently been thinking about modding capabilities and taking it a step further than anything it has done before since it started the development on the project.

With the team first working on polishing and finishing up the project as a whole, modding will not be ready on day one. But eventually, the modding community will have the ability to change game values (like balancing, technologies cultures, etc.), change localization (names description s event types, etc.), reuse existing 2D and 3D assets for new content, change AI, create fixed maps, and more. Along with the dev blog post on its forum, a calling all modders video for Humankind also was uploaded on YouTube.

Humankind continues to be an intriguing game leading up to release, and developer Amplitude is finding unique ways to keep its fans engaged. With the game receiving a boost during The Game Awards 2020, Humankind received a pre-purchase bonus via Steam, which certainly helped the game gather some more buzz. The full game will launch in just a couple of months now, and the post-launch mod support will follow shortly thereafter.

Humankind is set to release on April 22 for PC and Stadia.
