Back in the '90s when the console wars really started to heat up, exclusive games were very common with Nintendo being one of the worst offenders in this regard with classic titles such as The Legend Of Zelda and Super Mario never seeing the inside of another console.

The 20 Best Nintendo Games Ever Made (According To Metacritic)

Nintendo has consistently put out some of the most famous video games of all time. We take a look at the top-rated on Metacritic.

However, times have changed and fans are less tribal about their consoles. The PC has also become one of the most accessible devices for gaming, with a lot of titles having been ported for fans to enjoy. Unfortunately, some great games with awesome potential, haven’t had the same treatment leaving fans frustrated.

10 Lost Planet 2

Metacritic Rating: 68

Lost Planet 2

The Lost Planet series is made by Capcom and is similar to the recent Exoprimal in a number of ways. Lost Planet 2 which was a sequel was initially released in 2010 and was even placed on Steam for a while.

However, the game was removed from PC in 2021 and has not returned since prompting players to complain bitterly about the unfairness of it all. While Lost Planet technically received a PC port, the fact that it is yet another victim of Games for Windows Live, and its cult status within the community makes it a viable option to talk about.

Madworld was inexplicably released for the Wii and considering its gory material, this was surprising for Nintendo. Released in 2010 and developed by PlatinumGames who went on to develop Bayonetta and Nier Automata, Madworld was set on a deserted island known as Jefferson where dangerous individuals hack each other to death for the entertainment of the audience.

Video games that showcase macabre elements are often hard to forget. For those brave enough, here are the most disturbing ones out there.

As mentioned earlier it was released for the Wii, but strangely, never got any other port and has remained a Wii exclusive. There have been no sequels, and enough time has passed for the possibility of a remaster, yet fans wait hopelessly.

8 Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes

Metacritic Rating: 82

Marvel vs Capcom

If you ask a fighting game fan the three most influential fighting games from Capcom, they’d say Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. While Street Fighter 2 and Third Strike have seen PC ports with the Street Fighter Anniversary edition, MVC2 hasn’t gotten the PC treatment.

It is speculated that Marvel and Capcom have been unable to agree on anything, and as more and more fighting games (both old and new) come to the PC to thrill fans, there is ebbing hope that MVC2, considered the best of the Marvel vs. Capcom series, will ever debut on the PC.

7 inFAMOUS

Metacritic Rating: 85

inFAMOUS

Released for the PlayStation 3 back in 2009, inFAMOUS was an action-adventure game where the player got to control Cole, a man who obtains immense power and is basically a superhero.

It was a PlayStation 3 exclusive meaning it couldn’t get any other ports, but with the likes of God of War, The Last Of Us, and Spiderman, all PlayStation exclusives, getting PC ports, it’s a shame that inFAMOUS hasn’t enjoyed the same privilege.

6 Silent Hill

Metacritic Rating: 86

Silent Hill

The game that kicked off a series, Silent Hill, was released on the PlayStation in 1999. Developed by Team Silent and published by Konami, Silent Hill was one of the scariest games in existence.

The atmospheric horror vibe that emanated from the game made it an instant classic and from then came other classics including the much-vaunted Silent Hill 2 which featured the infamous Pyramid Head enemy. While the Silent Hill 2 remaster will be available on Steam, the original game is nowhere to be found save for those playing on emulators.

Fable 2 is one of those games where the choices the player makes really affect gameplay and the story beats the player will encounter. The game was originally released for the Xbox 360 and developed a reputation as a great nostalgia game with great elements, poorly-aged combat, and a pretty decent story.

Sadly, for those who might want to relive their childhood experiences with the game, they’ll be sorely disappointed as it does not have a PC port. It is unknown why this is the case as there seem to be enough people who’d love to get their hands on it.

It's fascinating to consider that Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night was never intended to be part of the mainline series. The game sold pretty poorly initially but started to gather steam and is considered a sleeper hit going on to sell over 700,000 copies in both the United States and Japan.

While many Castlevania games are notorious for their difficulty, some of them break away from this reputation by being much easier.

While many of the other Castlevania titles are available to play on Steam, Symphony Of The Night is not. This is even with how well the game has aged and the technology available to port it.

Shadow Of The Colossus came out in 2005 and features the player controlling a young man tasked with taking down 16 huge monsters. It feels like a game that is just boss battle after boss battle.

The game is a masterpiece and fairly recently got a remaster for the PlayStation 4 by Bluepoint Games which brought the game to modern audiences with updated graphics and a few other tweaks. But, PC players are left to rue their luck as the game has never come to that platform. It remains to be seen if it ever will.

One of the greatest games from the stable of FromSoftware who are the makers of the Dark Souls franchise and Elden Ring. It was a PlayStation 4 exclusive, and with all FromSoftware games, features the Eldritch horror themes and punishing difficulty.

Yet, Bloodborne has never had a PC port. This is a shame when one considers that almost all the other FromSoftware games are available on the computer, not having the one some will consider the best is sad.

1 Red Dead Redemption

Metacritic Rating: 95

Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption is a masterpiece that continues to be talked about to this day. It is the second game in the Red Dead series and the chronological sequel to the highly successful Red Dead Redemption 2, at least for most of its story.

It is also possibly the most puzzling game not to have a PC port, with the game being released way back in 2010. Funnily enough, Red Dead 2 already has a PC port and has done well in that ecosystem. There are rumors that there is a Red Dead Redemption PC port in the works, but there has been no official confirmation. Till the day comes when Red Dead Redemption can be played by all who want to, fans will have to enjoy one of the greatest games of its generation on consoles.
