Turn-based games may not be something new, but Honkai: Star Rail manages to add interesting twists to it. For instance, while battling, players will not only try to compose a party to deal the highest possible damage, but they also must pay attention to the enemy’s Weakness to deplete their Toughness and eventually trigger a Weakness Break. Weakness Break comes with two types of damage, one happens exactly when the Weakness Break is triggered, while the other deals damage at the start of the enemy’s turn as a DoT. Both damage scale with a Honkai: Star Rail stat called Break Effect.

However, while Break Effect may seem useful, ensuring the character with the highest Break Effect stat to trigger a Weakness Break is far from practical. Therefore, with the existence of Ruan Mei as a Weakness Break support and Xueyi, whose kit revolves around Break Effect, players can finally try their best and play around this stat. To help bring Xueyi to her best position, here are some Xueyi team compositions that Honkai: Star Rail players can try.
3 Xueyi + Ruan Mei + Silver Wolf + March 7th
Ruan Mei is a must-have in Xueyi's team since she greatly supports Xueyi’s playstyle. From providing a Break Effect stat bonus, Weakness Break efficiency, and even further delaying the enemy’s action (which Quantum break already provides), having the Genius Society Member #81 is sure to bring Xueyi’s performance to another level.
Since both Xueyi and Ruan Mei work around Weakness Break, having Silver Wolf who can apply a weakness to any enemy is the perfect addition. Next, players need to have a healer or shielder who bears the Quantum or Ice Element. This is so that Silver Wolf will only apply either Quantum or Ice weakness, ensuring the team constantly reduces the enemy’s Toughness.
There are several options for this, like Lynx, Gepard, March 7th, and Fu Xuan. Here’s what players can expect from each character:
- Lynx: A typical healer that heals from Skill and Ultimate. Doesn’t add much to the team other than that.
- Fu Xuan: A defender that greatly reduces the damage taken by the team. Comes with some buffs, but is not really relevant to this Xueyi team composition.
- Gepard: Shields from Ultimate and can Freeze with Skill.
- March 7th: Shields from Skill and has a Talent that synergizes nicely with Xueyi’s Talent if March counterattacks an enemy with Ice weakness. March's Ultimate hits all enemies, so it may trigger Weakness Break often, synergizing with Ruan Mei. The Frozen she offers also adds a layer of protection to the team. She can also heal when her E6 is unlocked.
2 Xueyi + Silver Wolf + Seele + Lynx
If only Silver Wolf is available on the players’ roster, they can make a Xueyi team comp that revolves around a mono-Quantum team. In this team, players can replace Seele with Qingque or use Fu Xuan over Lynx, but Seele + Lynx is more favored than the other options. Qingque is highly demanding in terms of Skill Points and not as flexible as Seele. Fu Xuan is great, but if players ever mess up and are now low on HP, they won’t have an emergency healer as Fu Xuan’s healing is too small to be reliable.
Honkai: Star Rail – The Best Silver Wolf Light Cone
Silver Wolf Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail can either boost her utility or focus more on her personal damage.
The idea of this team is to let Silver Wolf place a Quantum Weakness on the enemy, then let Seele and Xueyi grind the Toughness away. When a sufficient amount of Toughness remains, use Xueyi to trigger a Weakness Break on the opponent.
1 Xueyi + Ruan Mei + Luka + Healer
If players wish to see the highest DMG Xueyi can deal, then they can bring a debuffer like Luka or Pela. However, considering Xueyi’s Ultimate hit a single target, Luka is the better option since he’s an amazing single-target debuffer, whereas Pela is better in AoE battles.
Ruan Mei only needs to use her Skill once every three turns and Luka’s debuff lasts for three turns, which means this team is Skill Point-positive. Therefore, players can bring any healer that they want. The best option for this is Huohuo. Huohuo only heals from her Skill, which means players need to constantly use it if they wish to keep the team alive, but in an SP-positive team, this is no issue. Each Skill use will restore more Energy for Huohuo, which means she can Ult more often, allowing the entire team to regain a large amount of Energy as well. This eventually leads to Xueyi being able to trigger Weakness Break faster with her Ultimate.
