Players can speak with dead NPCs in Baldur’s Gate 3 in a couple of ways, but they all involve using a specific spell to pull it off.

The Speak with Dead spell allows the Necromancer and Cleric classes to speak with the dead, but other classes will need certain spell scrolls or items to make this possible. That being said, let’s take a look at the different ways to get the Speak with Dead spell:

  1. Players must make their way to the Secret Cellar to find the book referred to as Necromancy of Thay. Answer the ornate mirror to enter the cellar and then get the book.
  2. Another way to get the Speak with Dead spell involves getting the Amulet of Lost Voices. Players must relocate to the Dank Crypt, which is not far from Ravaged Beach to get the amulet. The door to the crypt is close to the Overgrown Ruins waypoint. The amulet is located in a chest in one of the rooms in the crypt. Any character with the Amulet of Lose Voices can use the Speak with Dead spell.

Players can cast the Speak with Dead spell on a dead person to bring them to life. Once alive, the dead will answer five questions before they die again. After casting the spell, players must head to camp for a Long Rest before using it again.

Players cannot cast the Speak with Dead spell on every NPC, such as skeletons or NPCs that are damaged beyond repair. Additionally, some corpses may refuse to talk to the player.
