Far Cry 5 shares a lot of similarities with its predecessor, one of which is multiple endings. The game features two main endings and one secret ending. The latter isn't meant to be taken seriously, so if you happen to achieve it on your first try, it's recommended to replay the game. But how do you get the other two endings?

The main two endings are determined at one specific point in Far Cry 5. When you reach the end, you'll have the choice to either attempt to arrest Joseph Seed once more, or to walk away. Both decisions have major implications, and neither results in a positive outcome for the story. The former, though, is considered the "good ending."

The highly rumored seventh installment of Ubisoft's Far Cry series needs to ensure that one of its narrative staples is up to snuff.

All Three Endings In Far Cry 5

"Good" Ending: Arrest Joseph Seed

When the game presents you with the choice to arrest Seed, you need to proceed with the arrest. This will trigger a firefight with your hypnotized allies. You'll emerge victorious from the skirmish, freeing your friends from Seed’s control.

While you're apprehending him, a nuclear bomb will detonate in the distance, an event unrelated to the game’s story. According to the game’s radio broadcasts, a nuclear war has broken out beyond Hope County.

Far Cry 7's Secret Ending Already Feels Obvious

While Ubisoft has yet to reveal firm details about Far Cry 7, long-time franchise fans may already know what to expect from a potential secret ending.

You and your allies, along with Joseph, will hurry to your car and rush to the Dutch’s bunker for safety. Unfortunately, your car will crash, instantly killing all your friends. Joseph will then carry your unconscious body to the bunker. After you wake up, Joseph will preach to you that this is "The Collapse" he foretold. He also killed Dutch, and now you and he are the only two people there, making you two "family." This ending is considered canon, as Far Cry New Dawn takes place seventeen years after this ending.

"Bad" Ending: Walk Away

The bad ending occurs when you choose not to arrest Joseph Seed at the end. You, along with your allies, will leave Hope County in a truck, but Whitehorse will mention that they will be returning to the city with the National Guard. However, as you hear a song on the radio, the screen cuts to black. It is highly hinted that your character killed their friends, triggered by the song on the radio, which was used to brainwash you.

Secret Ending

The third ending is considered a joke ending, similar to the one in Far Cry 4. At the beginning of the game, when you are instructed to arrest Joseph Seed, if you choose to do nothing, a cutscene will play out where you and your friends leave Joseph alone. Whitehorse will remark that attempting to arrest Joseph would result in them being killed by his supporters.

The only way to keep your friends alive is to refrain from arresting Joseph Seed at the first encounter. However, this is obviously not the main ending, as you would be missing out on the entire game.
