How to Sneak Up on a Squirrel in Animal Well

Although it is technically missable, players can unlock Animal Well's SNEAK Trophy / Achievement fairly easily by starting a new game.

Many of the game's tools are tied to post-game secrets, though finding them earlier can make a regular playthrough a whole lot easier. With that in mind, the following guide contains a list of all of the items in Animal Well and information on how to find them.

Updated May 29, 2024, by Tom Bowen: In addition to the 12 equipable Animal Well items, there are a few additional tools for players to get their hands on, one of which is called the Cheaters Ring. With the help of this secret item, players can turn off clipping with the click of a button, allowing them to pass freely through walls and other solid objects. This guide has been updated to include information about the Cheaters Ring, which should come in handy for those hoping to get every item in Animal Well.

Players will find the Disc in a room containing a Ghost Cat statue. Removing the Disc will cause the Ghost Cat to chase them, but if they swap it out for the Mock Disc, which can be found in a chest in the area directly above the Ghost Cat statue, the Ghost Cat will disappear again. The Disc can be used to distract dogs and hit switches or be ridden by the playable character.

Players will find the Bubble Wand in a chest in the bottom left-hand corner of the map. They can use it to create bubbles that the playable character can stand on or to interact with the fish head statues found in the water-themed area of the map. After beating the final boss, players will be able to get an upgraded version of the Bubble Wand that allows them to create more than one bubble at a time.

Players will receive the Top as a reward for collecting 32 Secret Eggs. It can be used to destroy certain sections of flooring, many of which lead to secret areas.

How to Get the Wheel in Animal Well

To get the Wheel, players will first need to rescue the five caged kittens in the Ostrich boss fight area. This can be done by playing special five-note melodies that can be found hidden around the map. Players won't actually need to find the melodies themselves though and so can simply use the table below to free the five cats.

Once they've freed all five cats, players should make their way to the mouse elevator and use the Top on the ground beneath the bear statue to their right. This will open up a path to the bobcat room, where the grateful mother bobcat will sing a song that opens up the cage in the center of the chamber. After she does so, players will be free to open the chest containing the Wheel, which they can then use to roll over spikes and move certain boxes.

How to Get the Remote in Animal Well

After beating the Chameleon boss, players can return to the area where they first encountered it to find a chest containing the S Medal. If they then place this in the circular recess in the pedestal in the starting area, they'll unlock a secret path leading down to the Remote. The Remote can be used to flip switches remotely, though only in areas with special sensors.

How to Get the Bouncy Ball in Animal Well

In certain areas of the map, players will run into a kangaroo. If they throw a Firecracker while the animal is nearby, it will drop a sack containing a K Shard. Collecting three of these will form the K Medal, which players can then place in the circular recess in the pedestal west of the bat chamber in the top left-hand corner of the map. Doing so will unlock a secret area with a chest containing the Bouncy Ball, which players can use to break spikes and initiate special Breakout-style mini-games in certain areas.

How to Get the UV Lantern in Animal Well

To get the UV lantern, players will need to light all nine candles in Animal Well. After doing so, they should make their way to the beaver head warp room and then use the newly uncovered fish head statue to be taken to a new area. Here, by breaking the spikes to their right and turning the crank, they'll find a chest containing the E Medal. They'll then want to backtrack to the Seahorse boss room and head two rooms right. Rather than using the fish head statue here, they should climb on top of it and head through the wall above it, which leads to another circular recess.

Placing the E Medal into the recess will grant access to an underwater area, where players will eventually come to an organ. If they play the Animal Flute here, a skeletal fish will show up and begin blowing bubbles. Players should pay close attention to the direction of these bubbles and play the corresponding notes on their flute. If done correctly, the fish will freeze, allowing them to climb into its mouth. This will take them to a new part of the warp room, where they'll find a chest containing the UV Lantern. They can then use this to find secret messages written on certain walls.

Rather than doing all of the above, players can simply play the following melody on their Animal Flute to unlock the UV Lantern right away: ➡️⬆️⬅️⬇️⬅️⬇️⬅️⬇️

How to Get the Cheaters Ring in Animal Well

The Cheaters Ring is a secret Animal Well item that allows players to clip through walls. The intended method for obtaining it is unclear at this time, though it's possible for players to get their hands on it using the Wheel Warp glitch. The method for doing so requires a fair amount of explaining, however, so those interested in the item should check out our standalone guide on how to get the Cheaters Ring in Animal Well. The method it describes works on both PC and console versions of the game, though it can be a little tricky to pull off due to the tight timings involved.
