The vast majority of secret items in Remnant 2 are hidden well beyond just simple winding paths or fake walls commonly seen in other similar games. Players will have to do more than just search every nook and cranny of a map as most secrets often involve multiple steps across different zones.

The Broken Timepiece is a not-so-hidden secret Remnant 2 item that will have players running between two different areas in Losomn. This item is the key to unlocking one of the best crowd-control mods in the game, so players should make every effort to obtain it as soon as the right conditions emerge.

Remnant 2: Broken Timepiece Location

The Hewdas Clock in Remnant 2

Players who find themselves in the dreary streets of the Dran city in Losomn may sometimes see the Hewdas Clock, an enormous tower with a glaringly obvious purple item stuck in one of the clock arms. This item is the Broken Timepiece, and players will have to do more than scale the tower in order to get it.

The tower's elevator is unpowered, which means players need to climb via the interior ladders and exterior scaffolding while fighting off winged Fae warriors and archers that are masquerading as stone statues. At the top of the tower is the gear assembly that operates the clock, and at the start of every fresh Losomn run, it will be missing a piece.

This missing gear piece can be found in the Lemark District, a different zone that's easily identified by its burning buildings. The entrance to it usually spawns in the same map as the Hewdas Clock but if not, make sure to explore all outdoor slum areas to find it. Inside the district is an old clockmaker's workshop with a bunch of broken clocks — interact with the one on the workbench and match the arms to whatever time is displayed on the Hewdas Clock. Doing so will give players the missing cogwheel.

After this, return to the top of the tower to grab the Broken Timepiece. Make sure to switch the power on via the level on one of the walls to activate the elevator.

What to Do With The Broken Timepiece

The Time Lapse mod in Remnant 2

Go back to Ward 13 and visit McCabe. She can turn the Broken Timepiece into the Time Lapse mod, which can freeze time (and almost every enemy) in a small area. Shooting an enemy frozen within the field will automatically remove the time-stop effect from them.

This mod is one of the best options players can use if they want a marksman or sniper build. It leaves enemies exposed and makes hitting Weakspots effortless. This is especially powerful when used together with single-shot weapons like the Crossbow and Widowmaker since their damage values are often high enough to kill most targets in one hit.

Remnant 2 is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
