Coins serve as the main currency in Mario Strikers: Battle League. They can be used for a few different things but their main purpose is to purchase new gear, which is used to tweak and tailor a character's stats. Coins can also be used for revenge matches in the game's Cup Battles mode, with the amount needed to retry increasing with each subsequent loss. With this in mind, earning and farming Coins in Mario Strikers: Battle League can be very important.

There are six different gear sets available and each one needs to be unlocked for all ten of Mario Strikers: Battle League's playable characters, meaning that players are going to need an awful lot of Coins in order to unlock everything. Including the unlockable Bushido gear set, it works out to be 3,200 Coins per playable character for a grand total of 32,000. Thankfully, there are many different ways to earn and farm coins in Mario Strikers: Battle League.

How to Earn Coins in Mario Strikers: Battle League

Mario Strikers: Battle League gives players a lot of opportunities to earn coins, though some can take quite a bit more time and effort than others. Those planning to play through all of the game's Cup Battle tournaments should do that first though, as they'll earn 400 Coins whenever they win a trophy for the first time. This amount increases to 1,000 Coins per tournament once players have unlocked Galactic Mode, though the difficulty increases just as much as the rewards.

Players will also get 500 Coins for completing Normal Mode and 1,000 for completing Galactic Mode. Given that each mode only features six tournaments for players to compete in, this means the total amount of first-time Coins that can be earned by completing both Normal and Galactic Mode is 9,900. This amount can be easily increased to 11,100 Coins, however, thanks to a few more first-time Coin rewards.

Completing the training match will reward players with 800 Coins, while trying on a piece of gear for the first time will grant an easy 400. After that, players will be forced to settle for much smaller payouts, although this is offset somewhat by the fact that the following methods can be repeated over and over again if players are so inclined. This bodes well, really, considering that players will still be more than 20,000 Coins short of being able to unlock every piece of gear even after doing all of the above.

How to Farm Coins in Mario Strikers: Battle League

The easiest way to farm Coins in Mario Strikers: Battle League is to complete Quick Battle matches. Winning a match will reward players with 10 Coins, while a loss is worth only 2. Given that a player can earn Coins by playing against themself with the help of a second controller though, this method can effectively guarantee 10 Coins every three minutes. An online Quick Battle match can potentially pay out a little more, with 20 Coins for a victory and 5 for a loss. Alternatively, players can take part in Strikers Club matches, for which they'll earn 30 Coins per win and 15 per loss, as well as either 100 (win) or 50 (loss) Bolts.

For those who prefer playing against the computer, it's possible to replay Cup Battles after completing them, though the rewards are significantly lowered the second time around. Subsequent victories will rewards players with 50 or 100 Coins per battle depending on whether they're playing on Normal or Galactic Mode. Given that Cup Battle matches are four minutes long instead of three (the minimum allowed in Quick Battle matches) and that players will need to win at least three matches to complete a tournament, however, most will probably prefer to farm using Quick Battle matches rather than Normal Mode tournaments.
