Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is out now, and will conclude the journey of James Gunn's lovable band of space misfits. This time around, the focus is much more on Rocket's journey, but the other guardians are out in full force in order to save their friend and stop the villainous High Evolutionary. The third entry in the series is packed with action, emotion, and plenty of humor, delivering a fun farewell for one of Marvel Studios' most beloved teams (as well as one of its strongest filmmakers, who will be co-heading the new DC Studios).

Following the thrilling conclusion of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, viewers may want to know just how long they need to stay in their seats once the credits roll. Aside from getting to listen to The Replacements' "I Will Dare" and Bruce Springsteen's "Badlands," viewers will in fact get just a bit more from the movie.

James Gunn confirmed the number of post-credits scenes himself, saying that there will be two. Without giving away any details, as with almost every Marvel movie, one of those scenes arrives at the mid-credits mark, and one comes after the very last credit has rolled. Among the credits are plenty of throwback images from throughout the Guardians trilogy, including one of Stan Lee. Fans may also be interested in seeing all of the songs included in the movie, although the official playlist is available on Spotify if they miss any titles in the credits. From here on out, the post-credits scenes will be described in detail.

The next section of this article contains major spoilers for the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 post-credits scenes.

What happens in the first post-credits scene?

Following the Guardians' decision to go their separate ways, viewers are taken to a barren planet, where Rocket, Kraglin, Adam Warlock, Cosmo, and new addition Phyla-Vell (who was rescued from the High Evolutionary) discuss their musical tastes (which include picks like Korn, Britney Spears, and Garth Brooks). This is the new Guardians team, and while a group of the planet's inhabitants scream in terror, they prepare to take on a herd of charging violent creatures.

Rocket puts on the song that started it all, "Come and Get Your Love" by Redbone, as one more member shows up late: a much bigger and presumably stronger version of Groot. The team charges into battle with Rocket as their leader, and the scene concludes.

What happens in the second post-credits scene?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's second post-credits scene is far lower-key than the first one. Having returned to Earth, Peter Quill is now living with his grandfather, Jason. Peter eats a bowl of cereal while Jason reads the newspaper. They have a seemingly mundane discussion about a neighbor mowing their lawn, and at first there doesn't seem to be anything all that important happening.

However, at the very end of the scene, a message appears on screen indicating that "the legendary Star-Lord will return." Chris Pratt appeared to hint at this in some recent interviews, but it appears this former Guardian will be sticking around in the MCU for a little bit longer, even without James Gunn's involvement.
