Every time a mainline Final Fantasy game gets launched, it's an event for fans of JRPGs. The time between releases furthers fans' anticipation and excitement to wait for a new entry. This is no different for Final Fantasy 16. The upcoming game has a more mature approach to storytelling, with the developers citing Game of Thrones as an inspiration. It is a dark fantasy that doesn't pull any punches with its brutal dark fantasy themes.

Square Enix launched a demo of Final Fantasy 16 for fans and newcomers to get a taste of what's to come with the characters, world-building, and action-based combat system. Moreover, if fans decide to purchase the game can transfer their save progress into the complete game of Final Fantasy 16. But how much time will the demo let players spend in the world of Valisthea?

How Long Is The Final Fantasy 16 Demo?

Clive with his Chocobo

In the Final Fantasy 16 demo, gamers will be introduced to key characters like the protagonist Clive Rosfield, his brother Joshua, Jill Warrick, and the faithful canine Torgal. The demo is a prologue and doesn't waste any time pulling players into its Game of Thrones-like medieval world of war, betrayals, and the power of the Eikons - the summoned monsters that can turn the tide of the war.

Unfortunately, fans won't be able to spend too much time with Clive until the full game is launched on June 22nd, 2023. Players that rush through the gameplay can finish the Final Fantasy 16 demo in under 90 minutes if they skip the cutscenes. However, those who enjoy taking their time by exploring, finding every item, chatting with every character, and reading the Active Time Lore can push the demo up to two and a half hours. The Active Time Lore feature is triggered by pausing the game at any time - including cutscenes - to get more information about the characters and the world.

Eikonic Challenge Mode

After completing the Final Fantasy 16 demo, players can take part in the Eikonic Challenge Mode. This mode allows players to spend time with FF16's combat, with an adult Clive embarking on a mission with Cidolfus Telemon. Players can't save the game in this mode, but it will allow fans to try the combat system by using Clive's Eikon magic with Titan, Pheonix, and Garuda taking center stage. Moreover, there is an epic boss fight with the Benedikta that fans may want to replay.

The Eikonic Challenge will last players around an hour, so combined with the main story demo, Final Fantasy 16 demo can last up to three and a half hours.

Final Fantasy 16 will be available for the PlayStation 5 on June 22, 2023.
