Many players have already jumped into Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 and have enjoyed some of the new features and mechanics added to the iconic battle royale island. However, some Fortnite fans out there are facing a somewhat minor issue, and this problem isn't related to the actual gameplay of Fortnite, but instead, the issue lies in the main menu screen.

When players accept a friend request in Fortnite, the player that sent the request typically receives a notification on the main menu screen where people squad up, stating that the request has been accepted. The problem going on right now in Fortnite is that gamers are randomly getting a long string of friend request notifications that weren't even sent out in the first place. And since these notifications take up part of the screen and make a pinging noise, it can be annoying for some. Here's how to fix it temporarily.

Temporary Fix for Fortnite Friend Request Glitch

While the friend request glitch won't go away by using this fix, it will stop the notifications from appearing on the main menu entirely, as long as a certain option in the settings is toggled off. Fortnite players can follow these steps to remove the friend request notifications:

  • Open the menu on the party up screen
  • Go into Settings
  • Tab over to the Account and Privacy section
  • Look down the list for the "Show Social Notifications" setting
  • If the setting is set to On, turn it off
  • Close the Fortnite application and start it again for the changes to take effect
  • If players turn the setting back On, and restart the game, the notifications will keep coming in

This is a temporary fix until Epic Games goes in and fixes the glitch entirely. So, players will need to keep the social notifications toggled off for now until things are all back to normal.

Considering an entirely new season has just started, there are bound to be issues like this that Epic Games is sure to go to soon. There's a lot that goes into launching new features in a live-service game like Fortnite, so players should expect problems like this to crop up from time to time.

Fortnite is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
