Dragons are the very foundation of House of the Dragon and fans got to see quite a lot of them in the first season. The show went above and beyond and delivered upon expectations, showing great dragon combat throughout the season. That said, the Dance had not actually begun in the first season of the show and with the civil war now on the brink, fans will definitely see a lot more of these dragons being utilized in battle as the Blacks take on the Greens.

Along with some returning dragons definitely making their way to season 2, there are those that fans will see for the very first time in the upcoming season of the show.

10 Syrax

Syrax is the dragon of Rhaenyra Targaryen. She made her debut in the first season of the show, where it was mentioned that she was growing very quickly. Syrax's size was compared to that of Caraxes, however, it was mentioned that he's smaller.

Syrax is fierce and her bond with Rhaenyra is extremely strong. In the second season, fans will see a lot more of her as Rhaenyra Targaryen unleashes her fury upon those who robbed her of her children.

Caraxes is the dragon ridden by the Rogue Prince, Daemon Targaryen. He made his debut in the very first season of the show and was seen fighting a major battle in the Stepstones. Caraxes is known to be very powerful and according to the author himself, he is one of the dragons that can be considered the strongest in the Seven Kingdoms.

While Caraxes is certainly not the largest, he is one of the fastest and, most importantly, battle-hardened. In the second season, fans will certainly see a lot more of him as the Dance of the Dragons begins.

8 Vhagar

Vega is the largest dragon in the Seven Kingdoms right now and the only one remaining from the time of the Conqueror. Currently, Vhagar is being ridden by none other than Aemond Targaryen, the younger brother of King Aegon II Targaryen.

Vhagar is extremely powerful, as was seen in the story on several occasions. In the finale of the first season, Vhagar tore into Arrax, along with his rider, Prince Lucerys Velaryon, the son of Rhaenyra Targaryen.

7 Meleys

Meleys is the dragon mount of the Rhaenys Targaryen. Known as the Red Queen, Meleys has made quite a name for herself already. She is certainly not small in size and remains to be the swiftest dragon in Westeros.

In fact, she is believed to be the fastest at this point in time, surpassing the speed of even the likes of Caraxes and Vhagar. With the Dance having begun, Meleys will be seen in action quite a lot in the upcoming season of House of the Dragon.

6 Moondancer

Moondancer is one of the most underrated dragons and is currently the mount of Baela Targaryen. She's known to be extremely nimble and fierce in combat. In fact, she is one of the most balanced dragons in Westeros and fans will get to see that in the second season of House of the Dragon.

Moondancer is going to be an active participant in the Dance and will fight many fierce battles where she will display her power and ferocity to the fans. Fighting for the Blacks, Moondancer would be raring to go in the upcoming season of the show.

5 Sunfyre

The mount of King Aegon Targaryen, Sunfyre is an incredibly beautiful dragon, known to be one of the most charming ones to ever exist. Many believe Sunfyre to be the most beautiful dragon of all time and fans will get to see its beauty in the upcoming season of the show.

Sunfyre, being the dragon mount of King Aegon, is going to see a lot of combat as the Dance of the Dragons kicks off. While certainly not the biggest dragon in Westeros right now, Sunfyre is ready to eat up any food that crosses his path.

4 Vermithor

Vermithor has already made his debut in House of the Dragon. At one point, this dragon belonged to King Jaehaerys and, currently, it does not have any rider. Vermithor was the dragon that Damon Targaryen sang to in High Valyrian towards the end of the first season.

In House of the Dragon season 2, fans will most likely see Vermithor at the peak of his abilities. He is the second largest dragon in Westeros after Vhagar and, as such, fans will be treated to quite fierce combat from him.

3 Sheepstealer

Sheepstealer is an intriguing dragon that lives on Dragonmont on Dragonstone. He has not yet made his appearance in the television series, however, in the upcoming season, Sheepstealer could very well appear. He is a wild dragon, meaning that he does not have any rider.

As his name suggests, Sheepstealer's favorite targets are sheep. Despite that, he is a dragon known to be large enough to pose a threat to any other dragon during the Dance. If incorporated into the story in the second season, fans will certainly be surprised to see him in action.

2 Grey Ghost

Grey Ghost is a unique dragon, just like Sheepstealer, and will most likely make an appearance in House of the Dragon season 2. He is known to be a shy dragon and often avoids men, which is primarily why he is given the name that he possesses.

Grey Ghost loves to feast on fish and often hunts across the shores. While not the strongest dragon, Grey Ghost is certainly more than impressive. He is also a wild dragon and fans could see a lot of him in the upcoming season.

1 The Cannibal

The Cannibal is a mighty dragon who is feared in the world of House of the Dragon. Just like Grey Ghost and Sheepstealer, the Cannibal is a wild dragon and does not have any rider. Out of all the three wild dragons, he is the most dangerous. He is massive in size and is also extremely fast. What's more, his favorite meal is dragon meat, meaning he goes around hunting dragons for fun.

The Cannibal is known to be one of the largest known dragons during the Dance. He's also one of the very few who managed to survive the entirety of this catastrophe. It is believed by some that the Cannibal was actually on the island before the Targaryens even came and if this were true, he would be the oldest living dragon in the story.
