Hotline Miami earned a reputation for being an addictive, retro-styled title hit worthy of a followup. The fast-paced, ultra-violent action lends itself to quick play sessions that turn into hours of fiendish fun. Those after more of a fix than Devolver Digital and Dennaton Games can provide will be in for a treat with Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. The upcoming title will come complete with a full level editor.

Set for release later this year, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number will allow players to make their own levels, and share them online with fellow twisted souls. Given that this may well be the last Hotline Miami game, fans of the stylized brutality it provides will at least be able to find solace in a wealth of user-made content to keep them occupied indefinitely.

Players can set up their own floor plan, adding rooms, windows and doors, and fill it with furnishings (everything including the kitchen sink), retro décor and deadly enemies. Gamers determined to set a vicious challenge can even change the nature of the opponents themselves, from what weapons they are using to their role in the level. Creators can decide whether the thugs are static or have a roaming patrol pattern.

Hotline Miami 2 - Level Editor

Given the sadistic nature of the game as it is, there are bound to be some brutal fan-made levels on the horizon. The level editor is already getting use from Fork Parker, CFO of publisher Devolver Digital. “Dennaton Games has agreed to let me create a level called Ford Parker’s Mansion of Pain,” said the CFO. “One room is just seven dogs and a dude with an Uzi. Good luck, nerds.”Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is being showcased at E3, so be on the lookout for more details.

As seen in a gameplay trailer back in April of this year, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number looks set to up the ante from the first game, and there aren't that many boundaries left to cross. Dennaton Games promises more of the sun-kissed, neon-tinged madness of the first game, complete with over-the-top graphic violence, striking synth soundtrack and eye-catching top-down visuals. It won’t be for the faint of heart, but those needing more of the cruel world of Hotline Miami will have to wait a little longer, until later this year.

Are you excited for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number? What do you make of the level editor? Are you already planning your first levels to share with friends?
