Developer Guerrilla Games has released patch 1.22 for Horizon Forbidden West, making further improvements to the game. Guerrilla Games has launched several updates for Horizon Forbidden West since its release in February 2022, with many of them focused on fixing bugs and improving other aspects of the title.

As an example, update 1.09 for Horizon Forbidden West made a huge quality-of-life change, as it added an option for users to disable pickup animations. As gamers would probably spend a considerable amount of time picking up raw materials and resources to craft ammo, this update would allow users to greatly speed up the process. Now, Guerrilla Games has revealed the patch notes for the changes made to Horizon Forbidden West in update 1.22.

As revealed by the development team on Reddit, patch 1.22 for Horizon Forbidden West mainly includes fixes for crashes, while also rectifying an issue that would result in the time of day getting permanently stuck. In addition, it fixes an issue in which Dino Digits Quiz rewards would not unlock under certain conditions. Overall, this newest Horizon Forbidden West appears to be fairly small, as it mostly fixes crashing issues faced by the player base. Guerrilla Games also makes note of a couple of other known problems, such as some players facing problems related to quest progression in Horizon Forbidden West.

Update 1.22 comes shortly after patch 1.21 for Horizon Forbidden West, which added some useful quality-of-life and accessibility features to the game. As an example, update 1.21 added an option that would make Aloy pickup loot automatically, while also featuring a Thalassophobia mode. Finally, this patch added support for the Burning Shores DLC for Horizon Forbidden West, which launched alongside the update.

Despite getting positive reviews from critics, the Burning Shores DLC is getting review bombed on Metacritic, with giving Aloy the option to be gay being one of the biggest reasons. Additionally, it looks like some users are upset about Burning Shores being exclusively available on PS5, despite Horizon Forbidden West being released on both PS4 and PS5.

As some gamers focus on finishing up Burning Shores, it looks like fans of this series will have plenty to look forward to, as a sequel to Horizon Forbidden West is currently in development at Guerrilla Games. The studio recently released a statement that hinted at Aloy having another adventure in store, along with an online project that is yet to be revealed.
