Update 1.21 for Horizon Forbidden West adds some useful quality-of-life features to the game. Developer Guerrilla Games has released several updates for Horizon Forbidden West since its release in 2022, focusing on fixing bugs and making other improvements to the overall user experience.

Some of these updates were focused on adding quality-of-life enhancements to Horizon Forbidden West, such as patch 1.09 which allowed users to turn off pick-up animations in the game. Before this update launched, an animation would play out every time players picked up an item, including situations where Aloy was on a mount. This would sometimes disrupt the flow of the game, as gamers were likely to pick up tons of resources from the surrounding area. Now, Guerrilla Games has released another update for the game adding even more accessibility features.

Patch 1.21 for Horizon Forbidden West is available now, adding some useful quality-of-life and accessibility features to the game. Guerrilla Games has made a new post on Reddit about the contents of this patch, confirming that gamers will now be able to enable auto-loot while playing Horizon Forbidden West. Players will likely be picking up the various resources available in the world, with many of them needed for crafting ammo such as the different types of arrows and bombs. In addition, gamers will also be looting the machines they will kill throughout Horizon Forbidden West, making this a welcome change that will speed up the process.

Horizon Forbidden West’s update 1.21 also adds a Thalassophobia mode, which will presumably help alleviate this fear. Other changes in the patch include larger subtitles, color blindness settings, an auto-camera option, and a navigation assist in focus mode among others. This update will also add support for the Burning Shores expansion of Horizon Forbidden West, which launches on April 19. Fans should note that, like the Burning Shores DLC, patch 1.21 is exclusively available to PlayStation 5 owners.

Burning Shores was officially revealed at The Game Awards in December 2022, and it’s priced at $19.99, similar to The Frozen Wilds DLC for Horizon Zero Dawn. Sony has been revealing all the features of the Burning Shores DLC in the lead-up to its launch, confirming that gamers will be able to dive underwater with mounts. It will also add new story content to Horizon Forbidden West, but players should note that they are required to finish the main quest of the base game before they can dive into Burning Shores.
