Horizon: Forbidden West is a massive open-world action-adventure game set in a post-apocolyptic future where a plague is devouring the world and the game's protagonist, Aloy, is tasked with stopping it in its tracks. In Horizon: Forbidden West, machines resembling dinosaurs and other primordial creatures prowl the earth, enraged and programmed to attack humans on sight, creating a world full of obstacles and challenges for the player.
Of course, no game, even a masterpiece, is without bugs, glitches, problems with code or AI, and a vast array of other issues that only come up after months and months of millions of players playing the game in a myriad of different ways. Glitches in games have a fun place of their own in the life of said game, like Skyrim's giants that wreck the game's physics engine and send player characters flying into the stratosphere.
One particular glitch in Horizon: Forbidden West is actually not too different from Skyrim's giants and sees one of the game's machines, the Tideripper, being shot up into the heavens. Redditor Alarming-Side-1470 posted a video showing Aloy first exploiting the Tideripper's weakness to the Purgewater element, sending it into the Drenched state. Then, after taking a few more shots, Aloy appears to send the Tideripper flying hundreds of feet into the air. Eventually, the powerful machine disappears from her sight entirely.
This Tideripper's encounter area is already a bit buggy, as it requires players to lure the machine out of the depths and into the shallow water upon the beach, forcing many issues involving pulling aggro, enemy vision mechanics vs. Aloy's stealth mechanics, and others. Normally, after being aggressed, the Tideripper will come barreling out of the water, charging straight at Aloy, officially starting the fight.
So, here, it seems that this momentum is glitched into an upward direction instead, which, as glitches and bugs go, seems to be a physics engine related issue that exists in several different games. Horizon: Forbidden West does so many other things perfectly that rare glitches like these are hardly game breaking in any significant way, with this particular bug proving to be a lot of fun.
Though glitches are, technically, problems within games, many have embraced them with good humor and levity in such a way that they are not burdens. Horizon Forbidden West fans had have fun with the glitches, and they often end up being Reddit posts that will be viewable for years after the game's initial release.
