There are a lot of places to explore in Horizon Forbidden West, and as players do so and progress through the main story they will come across a wide variety of individuals that need help from Aloy. These side quests are a good source of Skill Points, experience, cosmetics, and occasionally weapons. The level recommended for these side quests will vary as well.
Much later on in the game, Horizon Forbidden West players will find a side quest from Nakko in Fall's Edge. Apparently dangerous machines have been gathering in unusually large numbers in a place called the Valley of the Fallen. Here is how players can complete the side quest 'The Valley of the Fallen'.
Talk to Ivvira
To make things easier, set this side quest as active and follow the trail to reach the entrance of the Valley of the Fallen. Upon arriving at the entrance, approach Ivvira and the injured Tenakth to trigger a cutscene. The presence of significantly more dangerous machines than usual has resulted in numerous casualties, and Aloy agrees to investigate the Valley of the Fallen to determine the cause.
Reach the Valley of the Fallen
Near Ivvira, there is a ladder. Go up the ladder and follow the path. Along the way, players will have to climb along ropes and climb up log platforms.
Follow the trail and then climb up a tree to reach the rest of the path that leads to the Valley of the Fallen. Examine the destroyed machines along the way. Upon arriving at the Valley of the Fallen, the quest will update.
Investigate the Waterfall
There are two areas in the Valley of the Fallen that Horizon Forbidden West players will have to search to advance this side quest. The first is near the waterfall and the second is the area around a destroyed machine called a Horus. The waterfall is closer, so it is recommended to start the search there.
After getting closer to the waterfall, players will see several machines patrolling around the waterfall. Once all the machines have been cleared out, use the Focus to search for the device that is drawing machines to the area. Even without the Focus, the lure stands out like a sore thumb since it is Zenith tech. To turn off the lure, approach the front and override it.
Investigate Around the Horus
With the first lure disabled, it is time to focus on the second one. Head toward the rusted remains of the Horus. Just like with the previous step, players will have to clear out the machines that are patrolling the area. Once they are destroyed, climb up toward the lure and disable it.
Find the Third Lure
After disabling the second lure, Aloy discovers that there is another lure drawing in machines like the previous two. Follow the marker to reach another area guarded by machines. Destroy them, but before going toward the next lure talk to the wounded Tenakth. This triggers a cutscene where Ivvira shows up in time to help with another group of machines drawn in by the lure.
Destroy the machines and then disable the lure. Once that is done, approach Ivvira and talk to her. After watching the cutscene, the side quest will end and players will get their reward.
