Despite Horizon Forbidden West releasing on PS5 it seems developer Guerrilla Games decided to hold off on showcasing more of the game at the event.

However, fans were given some exciting information regarding Horizon Forbidden West and a few other major PS5 titles after the showcase was finished. The September PS5 showcase event has concluded and fans finally have conformation from Sony on a whole list of details they’ve been waiting for. Of course, the biggest news was that the PS5 price and release date was revealed at $499.99 for the Standard Edition and $399.99 for the Digital Edition. However, tons of other titles were shown off, including a look at Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS5. Though as mentioned above, a bit of information regarding Miles Morales, Forbidden West, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure was not highlighted during the showcase.

Shortly after the PS5 showcase concluded, Sony shared official confirmation on the official PlayStation Blog that the confirmed PS5 gamesHorizon Forbidden West, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure will also be available to purchase on PS4. The official post reads, “…We know that the PS4 community will transition to PS5 at different times, and we’re happy to announce PS4 versions of some of our exclusives. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West will also launch on PS4.” The post explains that although these games take full advantage of the PS5’s upgraded hardware and features, PS4 players will be able to fully experience these games as well.

Additionally, the blog post confirms that the digital versions of these games will include a free upgrade on both PS5 consoles, while the physical versions will include a free upgrade “with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive” on PS5. So players who want to experience these PS5 titles, regardless of whether they buy them digitally or physically, will have the opportunity to upgrade for free on PS5 when they’ve purchased the console. This is excellent news for players who are deciding to wait on purchasing a PS5 but still want the opportunity to play some of the most anticipated PS5 titles right away.

It’s a bit of a mystery why Sony decided not to include this information in the September PS5 showcase event, though it’s likely the company simply did not want to draw attention away from the PS5. Focusing solely on titles labeled as PS5 exclusives makes fans for more eager to purchase the console. Regardless, it seems that PS4 owners who are holding out on purchasing the PS5 at launch have an excellent opportunity to play these three major titles.
