Generally speaking, the further west that players travel in Horizon Forbidden West, the more challenging the game becomes. This isn't just true of the machines that they'll face out in the mountainous wastelands either, but also some of the puzzles that they'll need to solve. Those hoping to master the Runner's Wild Relic Ruins will find this out for themselves soon enough.

Finding the ornament in the Runner's Wild Relic Ruins will require Horizon Forbidden West players to use the multi-layered environment around them to stack crates. They'll also need to use a couple of Aloy's special tools: the Pullcaster and the Igniter. As such, players won't be able to complete the ruins until they've triggered the Death's Door main story mission.

How to Get the Altar Room Key

Upon their arrival at the Runner's Wild Relic Ruins, players should head around to the structure's north side and look for a blue metal grate in one of the walls. After pulling this out, they'll need to climb the wall near the tall tower and then drop down into the structure below. Inside, there's another metal grate that will need to be pulled out with the Pullcaster and a Firegleam crystal that can be taken care of using the Igniter.

If players pass through the hole in the wall left behind by the Firegleam crystal, they'll see a crate on a platform to their left. This will need to be dragged down using the Pullcaster and then moved through the three holes that players just made. In the most northerly room, there's a yellow beam that players can use to get up onto the roof, where they'll find another crate.

From this point, players will need to push the crate down to ground level and into one of the little alcoves in the courtyard and then push the other crate on top of it from the raised area above. They'll then have to take the stack of two crates back to the room that had the Firegleam crystals inside. Climbing onto the crates will allow them to reach the yellow beams above and the Altar Room Key.

How to Get the Ornament

After opening the key door, which is to the north of the tall tower, players will find themselves in a room with another destructible wall. Upon pulling the blue metal frame out using the Pullcaster, they'll need to push the double-stacked crates around to the opening on the south-facing wall of the structure and then head inside and pull the top crate in (either with Aloy's hands or the Pullcaster).

From here, players simply need to push the crate through the unlocked keydoor and up the mossy concrete slope. This will allow them to climb the western wall of the tall tower and eventually get inside. They'll find the ornament slap bang in the middle of the tower's upper area and should pick it up to complete the Runner's Wild Relic Ruins. Unlike most other Relic Ruins, there's no passcode needed here.

Horizon Forbidden West is available now on PS4 and PS5.
