Since releasing Horizon Forbidden West in February, Guerrilla Games has been hard at work squashing bugs and improving balance. The developer rolled out Patch 1.09 last week, which fixed various issues with its open-world action RPG.

The studio’s followed up with two new patches on Wednesday, combining patches 1.10 and 1.11 into a single update for Horizon Forbidden West. The latest patches contain 57 different fixes and improvements, including resolving problems with gameplay, graphics, performance, UI, and quest progression.

Starting with the quest and progression fixes, developers resolved the bug that prevented some players from interacting with the NPC Kotallo during the main story quest, “The Broken Sky.” The studio also fixed a problem with objectives not updating during Forbidden West’s “The Wings Of The Ten” main quest. The patch additionally resolved progression issues with the side quests “Thirst for the Hunt” and “Boom or Bust.” The cutscene for the quest “What Was Lost” also now plays correctly, and players should no longer encounter a problem where quest enemies spawn in inaccessible locations. Furthermore, the update also resolves several bugs with Horizon Forbidden West’s various world activities.

Moving on, the majority of the gameplay fixes and adjustments relate to Horizon Forbidden West’s skills, armor, and weapons. The developers resolved several mistakes and glitches with Legendary Weapons, including multiple problems with the Death-Seeker’s Shadow bow and Shredder gauntlets. The patch also addressed animation glitches, incorrect icons and tooltips, mistakes in tutorials, and certain items and upgrades having wrong stat calculations. It also fixed a somewhat humorous bug where attempting to throw a rock would instead cause Aloy to perform a heavy melee attack.

The remaining gameplay fixes address problems with various enemies in Horizon Forbidden West. The spawning of Apex and Evolved Machines are now determined by the player’s kill count rather than level, as was the original intent. It also fixed problems with the Apex Bristleback and standard Thunderjaw never spawning in the open world. The Plowhorn, Rockbreaker, Slaughterspine, and Snapmaw also now drop the correct loot. Lastly, for enemy-related improvements, the patches fix a handful of glitches with the Skydrifters, Tiderippers, and human enemies.

The rest of the patch notes detail fixes to performance, UI, graphics, animation, and physics issues. These include reduced crashes, more stable cinematics, improved foliage rendering, better underwater visibility, improved lighting, enhanced dynamic resolution scaling, and fewer buggy animations. Updates 1.10 and 1.11 also address Forbidden West’s UI glitches, such as the screen going black when players attempt to access a workbench.

Unfortunately, the patch notes also list five known but unresolved issues with Horizon Forbidden West. Some of these are long-running problems, such as a glitch with the “Blood Choke” side quest and the “Upgraded Every Pouch Type” Trophy not unlocking. However, Horizon Forbidden West also has some new glitches that Guerrilla Games has yet to solve. Hopefully, the studio continues rolling out fixes at the current rate, and it’s not too long before Forbidden West’s next update.

Horizon Forbidden West is available now on PS4 and PS5.
