Like its predecessor, Horizon: Forbidden West is absolutely massive. It should take most players around 20 hours to beat the main story. Exploring the entire game might take as much as 100 hours. It all depends on how much of a completionist someone is.

After beating Horizon: Forbidden West, fans may have questions as there are few plot threads left open by the end. It can be hard to wait to get them answered especially since it took five years to get this sequel. Will it take as long to get these questions answered? Only time will tell.

There will be spoilers ahead.

7 Are There More Zeniths?

Tilda from Horizon: Forbidden West

Most of the game players are meant to believe that there were three Zeniths on Earth. By the end of Horizon: Forbidden West, at least a dozen are shown coming out of their secluded island. It appears that they all died in battle. Was that really all of them? There could have been more hiding in the base that escaped once things went sour.

There could also be more in space somewhere or on some other planet. There is also the matter of Tilda. Her arm was hanging out of her mech but no one checked if she was completely dead.

6 How Did The Zeniths Become Immortal?

Erik Horizon Forbidden West

This aspect is quickly brushed aside in the game. All players know is that Tilda and the other Zeniths were experimented on so much that they became immortal. What exactly does that mean? Do their suits prolong their life?

Are the suits also what give them the ability to fly? They could be half machine and half-human. When players kill Eric it looks like his blood is white. Robots in video games tend to have white blood or more like white fluid. Hopefully, this gets elaborated on in the future.

5 Will Kotallo Get A Robot Arm?

Kotallo from Horizon: Forbidden West

Kotallo lost an arm in the negotiations battle early on in Horizon: Forbidden West. Despite his loss, this mighty warrior is still able to fight. As good as Kotallo still is, it’s almost certain he will get an upgrade in the future. There hasn’t been a hero with a robotic prosthetic yet but there has been a cyborg via Sylens.

He has embedded wires into his body which is cyborg adjacent. He did this using the robotic beasts in the world. The Zeniths could technically be categorized as cyborgs too. Either way, Sylens may know how to give Kotallo a new arm.

4 What Is The Rest Of The World Doing?

Alva from Horizon: Forbidden West

The appearance of the Zenith was the greatest revelation in Horizon Forbidden West. People were living in space? The Quen also revealed that other places on Earth have survived the calamity. Not much is known about this mysterious tribe other than they worship the Focus and are on the brink of starvation.

Alva fills in some other details but players assuredly want to learn and see more. Will Quen territory be shown in the sequel or an expansion side quest? What about other areas of the world. There is so much left to explore.

3 What Happened To Ted Faro?

Aloy from Horizon: Forbidden West

“Show us Ted Faro, you cowards!” That classic meme can be appropriated to the non-reveal of Ted Faro’s body in Horizon Forbidden West. Aloy sees it on a digital map. He looks like he has become a network of vines. Maybe he even took on a body shape like the monster in Carrion.

However, his real body is never shown. It is played off as a joke before he is burned to death thus triggering his vault’s lockdown. If the developer was willing to go as far they did then why didn’t they show a face? It was a cop-out pure and simple.

2 Will Nemesis Be In The Next Game?

Horizon Forbidden West - Aloy with Beta

Hades was the big bad of the first game followed by the planet’s extinction and the Zeniths in Horizon Forbidden West. With the Zeniths seemingly dealt with and most of Gaia’s functions up and running, it looked like Earth was going to be okay. That is until the revelation of Nemesis came into being.

How exactly can they fight an AI that destroyed an entire colony in space? Which locations can they go next in the series? Let’s not forget the godlike statue of the Zeniths. It’s hard to grasp the idea of an AI that looks like the sun coming down to Earth to destroy it. This is a science fiction series but even that idea seems a little farfetched.

1 Is The Game A Setup For A Multiplayer?

Horizon Forbidden West Erend and Vari

Horizon Forbidden West feels like a setup for a multiplayer experience. After acquiring Bungie, Sony said that they wanted their help to launch more games as a service experiences in the next few years. These games could all be original, but that would be off-brand for Sony. Of course, they would want to cash in on the success of their series like Horizon.

The first game was practically screaming for multiplayer and the same is true for Horizon Forbidden West. In the end, Aloy remarks that they need to get the world to cooperate to stop Nemesis, and part of the game's main story focuses on building a base. It would make sense for the next entry to feature new playable characters to both rebuild Earth and to prep it for the next apocalyptic event. What better way to do than then with a looter shooter.

Horizon: Forbidden West was released on February 18, 2022 and is available on PS4 and PS5.
