The highly-anticipated sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn is finally nearing launch. Horizon: Forbidden West offers a brand-new story for protagonist Aloy, a larger map than the previous title, and new secrets to find hidden in the ruins of the old humans. For many PlayStation owners, Horizon: Forbidden West is the first major exclusive to release in what looks to be a stacked year for Sony's platform, with games like Gran Turismo 7 and God of War: Ragnarok also releasing later in 2022.

With the release date of February 18 looming ever closer, many fans are looking to pre-order their copy of Horizon: Forbidden West as developer Guerrilla Games look to ramp up the marketing for the game. With trailers showing off the new activities players can do in Horizon: Forbidden West, many are looking to get their hands on the game as soon as possible. For PlayStation 5 owners though, it seems that the enhanced graphics and performance of that console will come at a price. The PS5 version of Horizon: Forbidden West comes at the cost of an extra $10 compared to the PS4 version.

However, this price gap can be eluded if a PlayStation 5 owner knows where to look. As owners of the PlayStation 4 version of Horizon: Forbidden West will gain an upgrade to the PS5 version at launch, someone looking to save a little money needs only to buy the PlayStation 4 version of the game. This at first seems quite the task when the built-in PlayStation 5 store only allows a player to purchase the PS5 version.

By using a web browser though, it is possible to get around this limitation. By heading over to the PSN preorder page for Horizon: Forbidden West and ignoring the top listing, a prospective owner is given three options to buy the game, allowing them to purchase the standard PS4 edition. Players can also get a cheaper PS5 version by buying a physical copy of the PS4 version of Horizon: Forbidden West, yet this requires the PS4 disc to be in the console at all times when playing.

While this is a simple trick for those who own a PS5, there are still plenty of gamers out there struggling to get their hands on the elusive machines. With PS5 restocks becoming slightly more common, scalpers are still proving to be a huge problem for gamers. Yet, Horizon: Forbidden West still seems a great experience no matter what platform it is on, boasting new visuals, narrative threads and over 40 machines for Aloy to fight and override.
