There are eight Relic Ruins scattered throughout the world of Horizon Forbidden West. These dilapidated structures serve as poignant reminders of the Old Ones' fallen civilization and are home to a set of special relics known as Ornaments. Getting hold of these ancient trinkets is no simple task though, as players will discover following their arrival at the No Man's Land Relic Ruins.

Horizon Forbidden West players will soon realize that there are no obvious means of entry, save, perhaps, for some mysterious red crystals that are growing on some of the building's exterior walls. Even after learning what to do with these crystals, players will still need to get their hands on a fully charged Energy Cell and then figure out how to get it across a pool of water without it getting wet.

How to Get Inside the No Man's Land Relic Ruins

Though players will be able to explore the exterior of the game's second Relic Ruins almost immediately after they've entered No Man's Land, they won't actually be able to head inside straight away. Before they can do that, they'll first need to learn how to destroy the mysterious red crystals, which happens a little later on during the Death's Door main story mission.

After crafting an Igniter and finishing the Death's Door mission, players can then return to the Relic Ruins, where they should look for a moveable crate. They'll want to push it over to the yellow climbing beam on the south side of the structure and then make their way up to the roof. There, they'll find a patch of Firegleam crystals which they can ignite by holding the R2 button for a few seconds.

Where to Find the Energy Cell

Once the exterior wall has been destroyed, players should head inside and take stock of their surroundings. There's an outlet in need of a charged Energy Cell beneath the locked door and a machine capable of charging Energy Cells on the opposite side of the water. For now, though, players should scan the VIP Key Datapoint and then use their Pullcaster to open up a tunnel leading back outside.

Following this tunnel will lead players to another patch of Firegleam, which they should once again ignite by holding the R2 trigger. This will allow them to grab the last Energy Cell from the newly uncovered rack. Sadly, it's completely out of juice, so players will need to take it back into the main room and charge it up using the device on the wall. Next comes the tricky part, as taking the Energy Cell into the water will completely discharge it again.

How to Get the Energy Cell Across the Water

Try as they might, players just won't be able to find a path across the water that doesn't lead to the Energy Cell getting wet. To get around this, they'll need to stand beneath the grapple point near the Energy Cell charger and then hit the Circle button immediately after using the Pullcaster to cancel the grapple. The excess momentum will send Aloy up to the roof, which will grant her access to the upper area of the main room.

It can be a little tricky, but, with a little maneuvering, players will be able to drop down from the roof to the area directly in front of the locked door. Exploring this area a little more thoroughly will reveal that there's another moveable crate up here, which players should push down into the water below. They'll then want to jump down and move the crate to the area near the Energy Cell charger and place the fully-charged Energy Cell on top.

Players will now be able to pull the crate across the water without having to worry about the Energy Cell discharging. It's then a simple matter of plugging the cell into the device that needs power and unlocking the door. For those who don't feel like reading through the Datapoint themselves, the four-digit passcode for the door is 2204. Once the door's open, players can grab the Emergency Pit Stop Ornament before heading on to their next objective.

Horizon Forbidden West is available now on PS4 and PS5.
