Though players are able to reach the Dry Yearn Relic Ruins fairly early on in Horizon Forbidden West, they won't actually be able to complete it until after they've reacquired DEMETER. This is because the path leading to the ruins' ornament is blocked by an unusual metal flower that can only be removed with a special tool known as the Vine Cutter module.

Metal flowers aren't the only thing standing between players and another fancy light show either, with a blast door, a railcar, and a couple of crates also involved in the acquisition of the Dry Yearn ornament. This guide will explain how Horizon Forbidden West players can successfully navigate the Relic Ruins and get their hands on the prize.

How to Open the Blast Door

Though the ornament can be seen from the very first area, players won't be able to get to it straight away. They will gain access to a moveable crate after destroying the metal flower though, and this can be used to get up to the raised area with the metal railings on the opposite side of the room to the ornament. There, players will find a yellow wheel that they can use to open the nearby blast door.

How to Get Out of the Locked Room

Unfortunately, as soon as Aloy stops turning the wheel, the door will begin to close. Players should run through before it does so, though this will leave them temporarily stranded on the other side. To get out, they'll have to use the Pullcaster on the blue metal fixture at the far end of the tunnel and then move the railcar to the spot directly in front of the blast doors. While they're at it, players should also pull down the three climbable beams from the right side of the chamber by grappling onto them with the Pullcaster.

With all three beams now lowered, players can jump from the railcar to the nearest beam and then hop from one beam to the other until they reach a raised platform with the Repository Maintenance Key on it. They can then use the railcar to climb up to the raised area on the opposite side of the chamber and use the key module to open up the Relic Ruins' only locked door.

After passing through the door, players should use the Pullcaster to open up a vent and crawl through it to a room with a Firegleam crystal inside. Igniting the Firegleam and passing through the resulting hole will return them to the platform with the yellow wheel, which they should once again use to open the blast door. This time, however, rather than allowing the door to slam shut, they should pull the railcar beneath it so that it holds the heavy door open.

How to Get the Ornament

From here, players simply need to climb the yellow bars on the back of the blast door to reach a new upper area on the right side of the chamber. There's another blue metal frame embedded into the wall here, which players will need to dislodge using the Pullcaster. They can then pass through the newly-made hole in the wall and drop down onto the platform below, where they'll be able to pick up the ornament and complete the Dry Yearn Relic Ruins.

Horizon Forbidden West is available now on PS4 and PS5.
