A Horizon Forbidden West player discovered a devastating new attack despite having played the game for over 150 hours. Horizon Forbidden West came out in February 2022 with positive reviews, with a lot of praise being given to its side quests, NPC animations, and other improvements made over the base game.

Horizon Forbidden West added a bunch of machines to the universe, with over 40 different machines for players to take on. These machines come in different shapes and sizes, and while it may take a lot of effort to destroy the massive robots, the smaller ones should not be ignored. The machines in Horizon Forbidden West have a variety of unique attacks, and one player came across a move they had never seen before despite playing the game for a significant period.

A Reddit user named philohendron shared a clip from Horizon Forbidden West with their fight against a group of machines. The player manages to land a critical strike on an enemy, only for a Leaplasher to grab them at the same moment with an energy lasso. To add insult to injury, the Leaplasher then pulls Aloy towards itself before kicking her away as the fight resumes. In the post’s title, philohendron claims to have played Horizon Forbidden West for over 150 hours without ever seeing this attack before, and it seems like they are not alone.

Many users in the comments section express their surprise at seeing the move in action, stating that they too have never seen a Leaplasher use this attack. One player compares it to the iconic Scorpion move from the Mortal Kombat franchise, while another first believed it to be a unique death animation. According to a Horizon Forbidden West fan, Clamberjaws and Leaplashers both get grab moves in New Game+, which may explain why so many gamers had not seen it before.

It appears that Leaplashers can be annoying to deal with, as some players mention that this clip has increased their hatred for this enemy type even more. One fan lists out the various abilities of a Leaplasher in Horizon Forbidden West, before confirming that they usually kill every Leaplasher they encounter. The rest of the comments are filled with gamers echoing the same statement as the Reddit poster, with a few users wondering if there are any other new attacks left for them to discover.

Horizon Forbidden West is available now on PS4 and PS5.
