Not long after catching up with Sylens and bringing an end to Hades, Horizon Forbidden West players will find themselves inside the game's first GAIA facility. Unlike those explored in Aloy's previous outing, however, this one's secrets are hidden away behind not one, but two large gene-locked doors. The first one is easy enough to get through, but the second can actually be quite hard to reach.

By gliding and climbing their way through the facility, players will eventually be able to get within a stone's throw of the second blast door, but will soon find their way forward blocked by a smaller security door. In order to open it, they'll need to input a four-digit passcode, the location of which is actually a lot closer than some players may realize.

What is the Door Code in the Death's Door Story Mission?

For those who just want to get on with the story, the code for the door is 7482. Horizon Forbidden West players who'd like to find the solution for themselves though will need to head through the door opposite the locked one and look for a purple Datapoint to their left not far from an Ancient Supply Safe. Scanning this using Aloy's Focus will unlock the "Bad Urges" Datapoint, which can then be read through the "Text Datapoints - Quests" section of the Notebook.

In the second paragraph of Travis' log, he'll mention that he's been looking through some of Ted Faro's files from a mysterious project known as Project Gossamer. He talks about a few of the hacks and robots contained within these files and states that his favorite is one called Sovereign 7482. In fact, he appears to have liked it so much that he decided to use its project number as the code for his office door.

Where to Go After Opening the Door

After opening the door, players will need to climb a shaft to return to the main chamber. Once there, they'll be able to use the Pullcaster and Aloy's excellent Parkour skills to reach the poles directly in front of the second gene-locked door. They'll then need to use the Pullcaster again to open a nearby panel, which will allow them to grapple across to the door and one of the biggest video game plot twists in recent memory.

Just before passing through the door, some players may notice that there's a Firegleam crystal high up on the wall over to the left. Tempting though it may be to investigate this further, it really isn't worth the effort, as although it is possible to glide over to it from the poles in front of the gene-locked door, the reward for doing so is just a few low-value ancient trinkets.

Horizon Forbidden West is available now on PS4 and PS5.
