Horizon Forbidden West is one of the best single-player games on the PlayStation 5 and does an excellent job of showcasing what Sony's latest console is truly capable of. It also sets up the final act of Aloy's wonderfully well-written journey, which will bring with it a powerful new threat for the red-headed heroine to take down.
Before all that though, there's the small matter of The Burning Shores, a DLC expansion that will see players venturing beyond the titular forbidden west to what remains of Hollywood and downtown Los Angeles. If it's anywhere near as good as the first game's Frozen Wilds expansion, Horizon Forbidden West players have a lot to look forward to, but how long exactly will they have to wait before they can start playing?
What Time Will The Burning Shores Be Released?
Despite some initial confusion and the times given on some regional PlayStation Store pages, it now appears as though Horizon Forbidden West's Burning Shores DLC will be released at midnight local time on April 19. It's important to note here that local time is determined by which region a player's PSN account is set to rather than the country they're actually in, so players may want to take this into account.
It's also worth noting that some people living in the United States will receive the expansion a little earlier, as the DLC will go live at 00:00 ET regardless of where in the country a person is based. This means, for example, that those running on Pacific Daylight Time will gain access to The Burning Shores at 21:00 on April 18, potentially allowing them to squeeze in a few hours before bedtime.

Will Players Be Able to Pre-Load The Burning Shores?
As was the case with Horizon Forbidden West, players will be able to download the DLC ahead of time, allowing them to start playing as soon as The Burning Shores is released at midnight on April 19. According to the PlayStation store, pre-loads are expected to go live around 48 hours before release, meaning that those who pre-order the expansion should be able to start downloading it from midnight on April 17, local time. The file size for the Burning Shores DLC is 16.763 GB.
Pre-Order Bonuses For Horizon Forbidden West: The Burning Shores
Those who pre-order Horizon Forbidden West's Burning Shores DLC will receive two special bonuses. First, they'll get the Blacktide Dye, which becomes available right away and can be used by visiting any of Horizon Forbidden West's Dyers. They'll also get the Blacktide Sharpshot Bow and the Blacktide Quen Commander Outfit, though these can only be acquired from merchants at the Burning Shores, meaning that players will need to wait a little while before they can pick them up.
