Seyka is one of the first Quen Aloy meets when she arrives in the Burning Shores. Immediately, it is obvious that not all is well. She, along with her sister Kina, expedition Horizon's Quen tribe sends out to San Francisco. Unfortunately, the group breaks into two, with Seyka’s half landing in Los Angeles. The two instantly take a liking to each other, especially after Aloy proves her skills as a warrior and takes down machines without breaking a sweat. As Aloy spends time with Seyka, she learns that the Quen warrior has a difficult relationship with her sister, and the two heroines bond over their experiences of feeling like outcasts.

Seyka and Aloy's Story in Horizon's Burning Shores DLC

To the surprise of many, Burning Shores features a possible romance path between Seyka and Aloy. The more time they spend around each other, the more players notice occasionally awkward and sometimes cute moments between Aloy and Seyka. In the quest titled His Final Act in Horizon Forbidden West, players have the choice to express romantic feelings to Seyka and share a kiss or not. On the one hand, the moment is very striking because Aloy has always seemed to shirk off romantic interests from other characters. However, on the other hand, it is not difficult to understand why they click so well. They are both valiant warriors with an independent streak. They also have had similar life experiences, and are familiar with living on the edges of society.

Regardless of whether players pursue the romantic path or not, Seyka and Aloy part ways at the end of Burning Shores, though this does not mean that this will be the last players ever see of the Quen warrior. Seyka seems to have come at just the right time. After relying so heavily on her companions in Horizon Forbidden West, Aloy has learned to open up to others and even express vulnerability. Her expression of romantic feelings, in many ways, seems like a natural progression for the red-haired heroine. Seyka gave Aloy a safe space to explore more of herself and learn that intimate connections can flourish even in apocalyptic scenarios.

Seyka has left players with many questions that will hopefully be answered in the next Horizon game. It remains to be seen whether players will see more of Aloy's romantic side and whether Seyka will be back to spend more time with the franchise's protagonist. Seyka would be a perfect companion to be at Aloy's side, as her warrior skills and knowledge of the Old Ones can help greatly in the upcoming battle against Nemesis.

Horizon Forbidden West is available on PS4 and PS5. Burning Shores DLC is available on PS5.
