At its core, Horizon Forbidden West is an open world action game with RPG elements thrown into the mix. One of the keys to a successful open world game is to have lots of things for players to find as they explore. While this will often mean collectibles and resources to scavenge, it is refreshing to come across something dangerous every now and again.
While exploring the Burning Shores, players will have to stay on their toes as they may inadvertently wander right into a Devotee Outpost, which is essentially the same as a Rebel Outpost encountered in the base version of Horizon Forbidden West. Here are where all the Devotee Outposts can be found and what players can expect as they encounter them.
All Devotee Outpost Locations
In the Burning Shores DLC for Horizon Forbidden West, there are three Devotee Outposts total. Since the Burning Shores is a fairly small area, it makes sense that there would only be a handful of things to find. The first Devotee Outpost can be found far north near the edge of the map, as depicted by the image above. The second Devotee Outpost is southwest of the first Devotee Outpost, and it has been circled in the image above as well.
The third and final Devotee Outpost can be found northeast of where players can find the Murmuring Hollow relic. Its location is depicted above, also circled like the previous two Devotee Outposts.
What to Expect in Devotee Outposts
While Rebel Outposts were typically packed with lots of enemies, that is not the case for the Devotee Outposts. At best, each outpost has a squad of four Devotees stationed there. Their levels will range anywhere from 40 to 50, so players should be prepared to deal with that. The only other thing that Horizon Forbidden West players should watch out for as they take on Devotee Outposts is that at least one of the enemies will have a heavy weapon equipped.
Are There Any Rewards For Clearing Out All Devotee Outposts?
With the Rebel Outposts, players got bonus experience and Skill Points when clearing them out. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Devotee Outposts. There are no rewards for finding and clearing all the Devotee Outposts either. That said, there is a collectible that players can find at the second Devotee Outpost. Near one of the Devotees there is a note that can be scanned with the Focus.
In addition, each Devotee Outpost has several caches of supplies that can be claimed once all the Devotees have been cleared out. Some of these caches have a lot of valuable supplies and parts, including several machine parts from Apex machines which can be useful for upgrading weapons and armor.
Horizon Forbidden West is available now for PS4 and PS5. Burning Shores is available exclusively for PS5.
