A new Nintendo Switch controller from third-party hardware developer Hori will be released later in October 2023. When it comes to the Switch, players have a variety of controller options. There are the official Switch Pro controllers that have been released by Nintendo itself, which gives gamers a more standardized option, alongside the Switch’s proprietary Joy-Con Controllers. There have also been a number of third-party controller options that have been licensed by Nintendo and are compatible with the system, with the most notable of these companies being Hori.

Hori is a third-party gaming accessory company that has produced controllers for Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox, ranging from specialized fighting game controllers and arcade sticks, to controllers that are branded with a certain game. This includes the likes of Animal Crossing, Monster Hunter, and Super Mario Bros. just to name a few. One of Hori’s next releases for 2023 will be based on another Nintendo franchise, The Legend of Zelda.

Releasing on October 5, this controller is officially licensed by Nintendo and has a white and gold color scheme. The white is primarily on the shell of the controller while the buttons are colored gold. The Triforce is predominantly at the top, while a decal of Twilight Princess-era Link is seen on the bottom-right hand corner of the controller too. Pre-orders are available on Amazon for $30 USD.

Hori Zelda New Controller

This is a wired Nintendo Switch controller, which has a USB cable that is 10 feet in length, which can be used not only with the aforementioned console but for PC gaming as well. It also has extra features like trigger shoulder buttons, a detachable D-pad adapter, and a turbo button. Much like Hori’s other gaming franchise branded controllers for the Switch, it lacks the gyro and vibration functions that can be found with Nintendo’s Switch Pro controllers.

Hori will be releasing a host of other Zelda-themed accessories, such as a Tears of the Kingdom Split Pad Pro, which will release at the end of August. The Split Pad Pro is a set of controllers that can be attached to the Switch console like a pair of Joy-Cons. They, however, give the console a more traditional grip that makes it feel like a full controller is being held. There will also be a wireless Horipad Pro that is also Zelda-themed that will release later in July. These Nintendo Switch controller options can be a great addition to a Zelda fan’s collection.
